[Patch Feedback] Healing items and effects.

Previously, health was a static value of 100. But since new armor buffs up your HP, I've been finding that healing bandages can only do so much for me now...

Dunno how high your HP can get, but I'd like to propose that healing items and effects be switched to a percentile value rather than a fixed value.

In example: Bandages would heal 30% of your total HP instead of a flat 30.

Of course this all needs to be properly balanced, so I propose a cooldown for using healing items as well. It shouldn't be too abusive, maybe 15 seconds per use would feel fair. This would also boost the bed's recovery (for sleeping) attractiveness. Speaking of which, please consider making the healing "heartbeat" for sleeping shorter so we don't have to sleep for too long.

    That's all.

This is not a bad idea in the first place, but that would potentially ruin the purpose of healing items based on tier/difficulty to craft, i.e. bandages>potions>steampacks for instance. Flat values ar better to keep the sense of each healing item belonging to its own tier imho.

I disagree. We should be finding bigger and better healing items as we go along. Bandages should remain as a Tier-1 healing option.

Yes, you have a fair point. Still I maintain that sleeping, at least, should be percentile based. Imagine how long it'd take for you to refill a 1000 HP bar?

And I also maintain we should have a cooldown for healing items.

I think bandages should heal like 24% while red stimpacks heal 32%
They should stack so you can heal faster at the expense of more materials.

Just my thoughts. I like even numbers..

I agree that healing items should deal in fixed values, so that they're gradually phased out in favour of more advanced options.

But resting, yes, should be percentage-based.

This also affects beds, when I personally think it shouldn't. That said, the difference in heal rate between the torture cot and the regular beds is just too large to ignore.

I thought all beds healed the same? Although I agree it should be something like 2% per second, not 1.4 hp per second. Either that or like 5hp/sec

The weird thing being that resting heals you faster than bandaging later on, to the point where it's better to carry a bed around with you as part of your survival kit.

I don't think it actually got fixed but the beds in the code had a healrate of 0.5 and and I think the torture cot had 2.5, so there's kind of a big gap there. That said, it's slow as mollases at the current time.

That's great and all, but as of right now, I haven't seen any other healing items in the game. So if bandages is all we get, it needs to be percentage based. The current state of them is similar to how diablo 3 started out. Before long, they were totally worthless. For the console release, they switched to percentage based and now they are very good.

So I'm cool with either or, but if all we have is bandages, percentage based is the only answer. And it doesn't need a cooldown unless its instant.

I know for a fact that there are steampacks that can be found in the game as of now. I haven't tested any yet but it sure brings something else in the range of healing items.

But we don't have just bandages. We have stempacks. And food recipes. There's evidence all over that suggests the healing system will become much more diverse than it is now, so rather than harp on bandages all day, focus on what would be more appropriate to have as healing items in later tiers.
