    Oh yeah, that's real specific.

I'd love to see monsters Chuck Norris players to death.

Maybe breaking dirt blocks, for instance, wouldn't have to be limited to bosses but rather specialized burrowing parts, even if it takes a number of blows per block. Perhaps fire attacks could do potential damage to wood. What about things like the various burrowing underworld worms in terraria, who could tunnel through solid ground?

I do not recall if a creature's arms/hands are a separate part from that of the torso, but if they are I'd like to this suggestion into the pile of ideas:

If the creature has something resembling hands, then they would have a chance to carry primitive tools. Kinda like how many primates here on Earth use twigs to "fish" termites out of their mounds as a food source and how sea otters use a stone to crack open the hard shells of clams and other shellfish.

In this case though the tools (sticks, stones, broken bones, etc.) would be used as makeshift weapons, that is when the creature is hostile of course. Just like how steel chairs and shivs have and chance to drop from the prisoners in the USCM Penal Colonies, these primitive tools would also have a chance to drop from these creatures when slain, though their usefulness would be rather limited since, as the player, your first crafted weapon is made of iron while these primitive tools would be along the lines of bare twigs, tree branches, bones, etc. That and when killed with a brain extractor these creatures would have a slightly higher chance at dropping a superior brain.

In regards to smaller creatures (both bipedal and quadrupedal), how about a pack mentality? Player strikes one creature and creatures of the same species (and reasonably close enough range) would aide their hurt comrade.

In regard to humanoid hostiles with firearms. I find it kinda annoying that they appear to have a unlimited energy pool. Especially if they're using a gun with a high rate of fire. Something like that would've probably quickly drained a player's energy pool. Perhaps you can give 'em a energy pool like the player, which scales with the sector that the planet happens to be on.

Monsters that could grapple you would be an amazing feature.
If a monster had large arms/tendrils/claws, say it would do a grabbing animation, if you are in its reach by the time it finishes its animation, it grabs you.
    Then probably throws you...

I think there's already a "grab" ability, but I guess it's not very fleshed out.

Reverse gravity monsters+Reverse gravity tech. This would only work when there's a ceiling to stop you from falling into oblivion.
Or better yet: some dungeons reverse gravity when you jump, allowing you to walk on the ceiling... but enemies would do that too.

Another suggestion: Can you add the option to add SPOILERS in the forum? I wanted to use a picture to explain my idea, but it was a big huge. Spoilers to hide it would be great.

I like the idea of tying the monster parts or monster features to visual representations of the monsters. I think this would help make it more intuitive as to what you were fighting.

Also, monsters with the ability to block as well would be good. Currently if you have a weapon like a watersword you can just hold down attack and charge through a group of monsters without really worrying about taking too much damage.
What about location damage as well? When you are fighting a mob, you have the possibility of cutting off an arm. If it loses the arm, it loses whatever skill or trait was associated with it. This may be quite difficult to implement however.

Monsters that can pick you up and throw you? If you are attacking it from one direction it kind of picks you up and flings you the other direction behind them (kind of like flipping you over their head). It would definitely require paying more attention in combat.

Automatic touch damage needs to go. If we are out of its swing arc or it can't make a swing in time, then it misses just like we would.

    Also more monster debuffs.

Sorry if any of these have been mentioned already!

Why not a monster tail that can grab a throw a character? It could tie in with other monster parts that are more distance combat oriented. Perhaps using that as a basis to create a few combat type specific body types, such as ranged/support/melee. Not all monsters would have those specific type parts but those that could be mini-bosses or some type of rare/elite creature. I could see melee monsters having a tongue attack that sticks to your character and acts as a rubber band effect to snap them toward you or a support flying enemy who's wing flaps release dust that enhance something about the enemies around it.

You should make random monster aggressiveness on different planets. So there is some peaceful planets to make homes and such.

A good idea would also be to be able to tell when a monster is a murderous predator or a friendly horror. Mostly to avoid the following situation:

I think that mini bosses have about perfect rarity, but i would like them to be more unique.
I think mini bosses should have large area of attack moves that make it feel more like a boss than a strong monster ( this would also make teaming up against it more challenging because it may not target a specific enemy). I also think that they should have multiple attack patterns so you cant just find what works then do it over and over.

I'm surprised that in all this time. With all these suggestions. No one has ever thought to request a Bestiary. Thousands if not millions of monsters, various colors, shapes and sizes. Different attacks and behaviors all for review and set to a note.

Maybe analyzing a monster the first time will just give you "Some indescribable horror." but as you fight and kill them it progressively expands so that it might say "Name: Gobbleknocker, creature type: beast, aggression type: passive, etc."

And bouncing off of that, creatures that have predisposition to certain races. NPCs treat the PC differently depending on their race, so why not the monster and similarly the PC.

Floran to plant based creature: "Plant monssster, Floran Friend"

Glitch to mechanical monster: 'Recognition. A cybernetic compatriot"

Avian to bird: "Ah, how I wish that I could fly as you do."

Hylotl to fish: "Even lesser sea life are still our brethren."
