This came to me last night while doing some work. Why not have a mini quest where you get sucked into a parallel dimension for a short period of time or until you reach a certen goal. It would be a mirrored replica of the world on which the event took place. Maybe with distorted colors and npc's speaking backwards or even a secret boss could live there note: in the other dimension you can not leave the backwards planet
Ohhh! I love the idea of parallel dimensions! Can there be a TARDIS as a shameless Dr. Who tribute? Very clever idea!
If it's parallel, wouldn't it be the SIDRAT? Oh, and someone should think of an actual acronym for that.

Me gusta parrallel universes! How about alternative realities, which can be assessed from super rare wormholes? To survive the journey through the wormhole, you would need to be high up in the tech tree for your ships shields, etc. Maybe alternative realities could be used as multiplayer? So, if you want to travel to another players galaxy, you go through a wormhole.
Parallel dimension! That is so awesome i would love to see that in game. I can just see my self going into an parallel dimension and seeing my parallel self and then going into a death match with him.
A good idea, and with a karma meter or public status, this could really be complex and even cooler. Say that the karma meter is put in, and you are the good guy. In this alternate universe, you are the bad guy. Or vice versa. A good idea! Only negative comment: This doesn't look like it was given a lot of effort. I can help there. And evrything runs backwards to make it a little harder to manuver around maybe? PARALLEL!? Yes. Differnt? Too small a word!
This sounds like a awesome idea. Maybe you find a ruined planet, full of mystic... Ruins. And you find a strange gate. It is covered in runes. You craft several keys, and place them into the gate. *ZAP!* You are on the other side. The ruins are replaced by sprawling citys full of creatures from "The other side" Perhaps with a small group of researchers that got trapped on the other side. And you need to gather the "Anti-keys" in order to get back. This is also a brain blurb!
Or how about this instead, on your dimension civilization A is a warlike barbaric culture. but in the parallel dimension they have become advanced peaceful civilized people.
I don't think I'd like it being random, you could be doing anything, but then being interupted by this. Maybe it should be activated somehow.
