For those so inclined, one of the people who got an early copy of Starbound will be livestreaming this evening.

  2. Right on, I won't be watching any lets plays until after I play the beta myself. Way too many spoilers and I actually wanna be genuinely excited when I find things, not think to myself "saw this on the lets play."

I'd rather shoot myself. Paperbat is the scum of the earth among streamers; all he cares about is money. I remember on several occasions he straight up stopped streaming while playing Terraria 1.2 simply because he didn't get a certain number of new subs. I'd rather watch streamers with good personalities that are actually enjoyable to watch (which if you would take a hint Paperbat; is how you get people to sub to you).

I won't comment on the streamer's personality, but this bugs me off in his Twitch channel info...
I find this "no backseat gaming" stance incredibly arrogant and presumptuous on behalf of streamers. Isn't the whole point of a live stream to interact with your viewers? What's the point of the Twitch chat if you don't want players to give you opinions on your gameplay? Or do you just want it to be an echo chamber where you only tolerate sycopants saying how awesome you are, while suppressing any criticism?

I understand not allowing swearing, spam, major spoilers, etc., but if you outright refuse to accept that people will have feedback and opinions about your stream, you shouldn't be streaming live in the first place. Stick to YouTube or something.

Requesting the video compilation of him playing like an idiot in terraria.

You nailed it. He really only cares about money and his ego.

I won't lie, him playing Terraria is amusing as all hell for this very reason.

Telling someone what to do in the game can be really irritating. And it's very different from commenting on what they are already doing/what is happening.

(Also, the 'whole point' of doing literally anything in the world is going to change from person to person.)

Sounds like a less than stellar guy but I'll watch to get my Starbound fix.

The fact that someone that isn't a reviewer gets a early copy is making me kinda mad.
And i liked Pbat before but then i stopped caring about him, when i told him
he did a mistake in League that WAS a mistake ( he stacked tenecity and it don't stack )
and told me that i know nothing about the game, kinda baffled me.

  12. I've heard of this person, but I've never watched him.
You say he cares about nothing but money and his ego? Can you provide some evidence?
Innocent until proven guilty, that's my motto.

This is 100% false. I remember the stream you are referring to. He went into the stream only planning to stream until a certain time and decided part way through that if he got a certain number of subs he would stream a bit longer to celebrate. Completely different.

Generally, unless I am really horribly interested in something, I avoid most livestreams; I am much more fond of video playthroughs of something where the player does not talk or chat over the gameplay. To each their own.

Most of the people that got their 'YouTube fame' through Terraria ended up being complete ass-hats, Bat being no different. Thanks for the post but meh.

Yeah, no, some of us have jobs/school/whatever, streaming at midnight on a Monday/Tuesday is a no go and kind of dumb in my opinion.

I find this whole "I'm going to complain that I can't tell him how to play" stance incredibly arrogant and presumptuous on behalf of people who watch streams. Isn't the whole point of a live stream to hang out with someone and enjoy watching them play a game? What's the point of the Twitch chat if it's being spammed by know-it-alls and "YOU SUCK", and no one can have a decent conversation or comment on the game?

Telling someone how to play or what to do isn't feedback, it's condescending tripe. I don't care if they're the worst player in the world, go take your crap elsewhere. Nobody enjoys people telling them how to play a game. It's annoying in real life, and it's just as annoying on a stream.

Edit: I don't know nor do I care about this PaperBat fellow, I just took exception to this particular bit.

It would be completely different if he had actually kept streaming up until the original time, which he did not; he stopped a whole hour before. So no, it's not different. He didn't get the subs he wanted within his mental time frame and bounced. I'll not argue this though, it's how I remember it. I could be wrong as watching his idiocy playing Terraria doesn't exactly benefit the integrity of my brain cells.

Well I only watched him play terraria a few years ago, I heard from my friend that he "lost it" basicly, can't comment on that really, I don't know anything about him.
But even if I wanted to watch it, I just can't, maybe it's for the better. I spoiled myself everything about terraria with PBat before and there were nothing that could surprise me when i finally got to play that game, don't want that to happen with starbound this time around and it would if my internet could handle streams. :p

While I can't comment on the streamer himself, his active chat following seems very disruptive and juvenile. I'll tune back in at midnight to see if starbound is getting the proper respect it deserves.
