Hopefully I'm proven wrong but it seems between the whole pro vs noobs the devs decided on making the game easier, rather than keep it hard but fair.

Fall damage: was nerfed I can now jump off the roof of a house and take no damage... what's the point of climbing ropes again? It's like I'm on the moon, or at least change the gravity for different planets.

Free teleport to home planet: The whole point was to save your fuel so you always had enough to return and not rely on your storage planet... this was supposed to be about space exploration, we can play house in terraria.

Decreased pixel costs and death penalty: I don't consider myself a good player, yet I hoard over 30k, I can buy ANYTHING at any time, add the so much desired "Pixel Storage" and I fail to see the point of the system, at least stuff was expensive in terraria.

Enemy skill nerfed: I don't even know why people were complaining about, but so long as you keep moving, enemies won't hit you.

Would someone like to prove me wrong? cuz I was excited for the gritty "realistic" survival aspect the game used to offer... hiding in caves, cowering over night-time... stocking fuel and food, making sure not to get stranded... but maybe I'm wrong, maybe the game gets harder later on.... whenever that is...

If the devs intend to pander for the weaklings (Games nowadays already handhold enough!) I would at least like a "realistic" difficulty setting, drop all items or cash on death, increase fall damage etc.

EDIT: I'd rather people tell me why it ISN'T pandering for the newbies, than calling me elitist.

    Example:
Me: Hey the game seems to be getting too easy.
You: No it isn't when you get to Z, you will see that Y makes the game harder. All the x amount of A is not enough for this requiring you to use C instead. The game is still harder by itself.

to the fall damage it actually got buffed i think or it was supposed to but the reduced / increased gravity is messing with it from what i've noticed.....

from my personal experiences the enemies have been getting stuck less this patch which is step in the right direction i think

also if you wanna cry about things not being hard enough just set up on a planet that has meteorite strikes and don't leave the surface and ur game will be much harder

I'd hate to dust off an old internet chestnut but

    THIS
    IS
    BETAAAAAAAAAAA
    *kick*

Joking aside, the game's still finding it's feet. They're trying new ideas out.

The whole "teleport to home" thing is good. Before, there was absolutely no justification for making a permanent base because you may as well just use your ship, effectively eliminating the whole building aspect of the game. Now, people will explore with building more and personalise their ships to their own tastes rather than initiate minmax-metagaming mode.

The whole gravity thing is absolutely subject to change. Different planets will have different gravity by the time the game is released, with fall damage being tied to it somehow.

With enough request from people like you, maybe a more hardcore mode will be added. Personally, I prefer the wonderment of exploring this great universe the devs have made to constantly worrying about my survival.

I do agree their should be different difficulty settings though.
That's why Terraria was ever bearable. Those who wanted to could have their characters erased by a renegade boulder and those who wanted to enjoy the game could just lose some coins if they so chose. Terraria was hard but fair. Starbound is just hard and unfair.
    This too.

This kind of ridiculous and pointless comment just invalidate your whole post.

Just because you do not consider the game any difficult doesn't mean anyone who does is weak, that's just stupid.

Stuff will get changed over time. Saying you think the game isn't difficult enough is criticism, that's good. Saying devs "pander for the weaklings" is just plain arrogant, dumb and completely unneeded.

The thing is, OP, that not everyone shares your play-style, and you have to recognize and get over that fact. They're balancing the game and making it more enjoyable for EVERYONE, not just people who share your play-style.

This latest update has really improved the game for me, and i'm a dedicated gamer. It's not all about whizzing around space and annihilating planets like a madman, setting up a base, or as you say "playing house" is vital for sustained survival. Farming, storage, and a place to be proud of, not just your ship. You don't have to beam home if you don't want to, you fly the long way around until some form of hard-mode is in, nobody is forcing you to use it.

I'm sure they'll add difficulty soon, we're in the first stages of beta, not everything is in yet, and i'm not crying beta, all I'm saying is, it's likely to be coming soon. I know tons of people love hardmode char-wipe, and I respect that, just as you should respect casuals and those who play differently than you.

Also factor in that this game can be modded pretty well and those that want more of a challenge will start to create mods which give them what they want while everyone else can play how they want. It is a win win for just about everyone.

I could not agree more. Especially regarding the free teleport . YOu know why? CAUSE FUCKIN SAPLINGS WERE ADDED. In one night I can get close to 1000 wood. That's 100 coal in one night. And yet you actually NEED the handholding of a free no charge teleport as an excuse to build??

I would be ok with an "realistic" option. But also i think of myself as hardcore gamer i really appreciate the changes so far. For me it is a great differece between challenge/fun and annoying/boring and some things were and still are just annoying and not challenging.
For me even with the new update i feel like every planet is just a hostile danger (especially birds). I don´t know if it´s just me (or a few ppl) but now there are not only nearly all enemies hostile but also i can´t find any dungeon or village anymore (small houses and small ruins/apex lab building yes, bigger things no).

And for the pixels, i think its a balancing problem. In the beginning i always have to specificially go out for gathering/grinding pixels, later on i dont know where to throw them at.
Whats also just annoying for me is the constant search for coal. I cant really enjoy the exploration or building because i always need coal for everything (fuel, alloys, torches).
Since this update the only thing i do is :
    -jump to planet
    -gather coal
    -gather meat
-maybe gather materials and pixels for new stuff
    -search for anything cool/useful/explorative
    -find nothing worthy
    -jump to next planet

And i don´t know what you think about it, but most of the cool things in the game are so "nerfed" that they are not usable.
Hunting bow cost much energy, tech do so too, guns cost very much energy and got really low damage since the rebalance.
"Legendaries" are always an insta throw away.

Also it always feels very "lonely" in this game. The free warp to home planet is really good in my point of view because i actually like building my own base. And if it were only space exploration as you say, why would you have the possibilty of building in the first place and why would there be tons and tons of decorative/comfort/housing stuff (and a pixel printer with wich you can only reforge decorative items)? That this game is about being a lonely space hobo without a home who is only exploring space is not true (for me at least, and i THINK many of others too).

I am no fan of those "boring way too easy i am talking to you as if you are a child who cant do anything" games but im also not a fan of games who get their "challenge" through annoying game mechanisms and always shout "fu** you, you suck" at the player.

Speaking objectively, the developers might, reasonably, be working with the mindset that some players don't own, or haven't heard of Terraria.

They aren't preventing a player like you from going planet-to-planet whenever you want. In fact, one might make the observation that your argument about home teleporation has nothing to do with your idea on space exploration because, as I said, it does not hinder exploration. From other posts players have made on this forum, they have noted that the developers have made exploring onerous when they removed trees as a fuel source. Something a "pro" like you might enjoy with your experience in the game.

I agree with what the pixel cost situation, however. Through every patch, it has been too easy to make money in this game and the death penalty is a non-factor, in my opinion, when you get so much ore that can be converted into pixel. I've died more times than I can count and have never been strapped for cash.

Also, I've never seen the "gritty realism" this game was supposedly offering. You don't cower in caves. You don't stock fuel and food. You don't worry about getting stranded.

The way this game really works is that you dig, dig, dig. Get some stuff. Hit the teleport button and repeat. You don't have to worry about food because you can just run around the landscape picking plants or build a little farm on your ship. You can't get stranded because your ship isn't going anywhere without you.

Hopefully the developers react by giving players like you that hard-mode.
