I cannot fully extract the packed.pak file within the assets folder. This has been happening since the start of the giraffe updates.

Attempting it with any pre-written extractor allows maybe 40% of the full list of files to be extracted, and then up to a maximum of 60% on subsequent attempts.
Trying to do it manually with a command prompt does the same thing, but also elicits this error:
    Code:
Exception caught: (IOExeption) Write wait error: 1450
      00472B26 asset_unpacker.exe
      00413D82 asset_unpacker.exe
      004191D2 asset_unpacker.exe
      00417AEC asset_unpacker.exe
      0041AC39 asset_unpacker.exe
      004ED324 asset_unpacker.exe
      00401D3E asset_unpacker.exe
      RegisterWaitForInputIdle
    Things I have already tried;
    Other extractors
    Reinstalling
    Verifying

Is there anything else I can do? Not having the most up-to-date files makes it hard to work on anything.

    EDIT:
    My specs are:
    WinXP SP3
    dual core e6500 @ 2.93x2 Ghz
    3gb ram
    40gb free HDD space
    GTX650 nvidia card

I have 3937mb in my page file, and I am not running out of memory during the process.
When asked to use Process Explorer and record my findings, I came back with this: http://i.imgur.com/1dwTJDp.png

That extractor did not fully work either.

Not a 100% sure have you tried verifying assets?

  5. omegadrace

    Yes, with no issues.

Are you trying to write into an existing unpacked folder? Or did you delete the old unpack folder first?
Ideally you should delete the old unpack folder then unpack.

This is into new folders. I can count 14 now from all of the re-attempts.

You sure you have enough space on the computer to unpack it?

Not really sure - Kawa unpacks assets daily.
So he would have been the first one to complain if an issue existed with the assets or unpacker.

I would just delete the unpacker and reverify assets after that.
Make sure there is at least 1.5 gb free space on the drive you are unpacking too.
    And try to unpack again.

    ==
Just for sake of completion what OS are you running?
You may just want to pop into ##starbound-modding and talking to one of the guys if the issue continues.

I'll try to reverify the unpacker (though I have reinstalled the entire thing before).
As for OS, I use WinXP.

    And what is ##starbound-modding?

    It;s the modding chatroom: playstarbound.com/live-chat/

Well, reverifying did nothing. Should I just use that chatroom?

    You can always try.
Though worst case scenario you should be ready for is a hard drive issue.

Ok, I'll try. I've never used an irc before though.[DOUBLEPOST=1434374150][/DOUBLEPOST]And that amounted to nothing but some arsehat not really helping at all.

Kawa is not an "arsehat" as you interpreted his neutral tone as "offensive".

How much disk space are you working with?

Also, have you tried ModPackHelper? Install it to /starbound/giraffe_storage/mods/ and try it.

If push comes to shove, I could help you obtain the assets in a more direct way.

His "natural tone" is childishly self-important and could be improved upon immensely, with a little self control on his part.
And yes I have tried that modpackhelper, to no avail.

If you do feel that you're up for sending me the assets, I would be very grateful. One major thing though; Are you going to be able to provide for future updates? There isn't any point if I miss important ones.

    Free HDD space-wise, I have 40gb.

You actually read that into his tone. He did not have that kind of tone at all, and I would know if he did since I chat with him often.

Okay, well I hoped to have more time this morning but I had to leave. I ran ModPackHelper without issue but had to leave while I zipped them up... I won't be home for another eight hours, maybe? So maybe Kayuko or someone else will beat me to the asset distribution.

Still, I think your issue could be related to your use of Windows XP so I am not sure if there is another way to help you.

What operating system are you using? How much swap space do you have/how big is your page file? The described behavior and the error seem to point to https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/li...81385(v=vs.85).aspx#ERROR_NO_SYSTEM_RESOURCES which can be caused by a wide variety of issues.

Basically check that you aren't running out of memory or swap/page file. Make sure your Windows is fully patched because there have been KB's that fix bugs in Windows related to such issues (though mainly for quirks related to large SQL database files on NTFS.)
