It's tough to say when everything collapsed. It was before my time. Our Lord refuses to speak about it. My mother tried to teach me of my heritage, passed down from her grandparents, to her parents, to her, to me, but our "great sovereign" didn't really give her a chance. Execution by hanging, for inciting lies, and not accepting the fat bastard as the leader of the realm.

Here's what I do know. We aren't the first people to form society like this, even though Our Lord claims we are. I know we are the remnants of a shattered age, a time of happiness and knowledge. The ancient text my mother left me is almost impossible to read. I can barely make heads or tails of it, and the parts I do understand are confusing and profound. Men once flew, I know that much. They once sailed across the skies. They could create weather, build transport to the great unknown.

I don't know why we are as we are. I don't really have time to think about it. Our Lord is going to die soon, I hope. His son is getting prepped to take the throne. The son seems like a better man. We'll have to pray.

Maybe now we can finally have some peace.

This is an experimental idea I had for a new RP. It revolves around two worlds: one virtual, one real. The real world, which I'll call 'Offline' for simplicity's sake, is essentially Earth, albeit in an alternate universe. Some technology, like steampunk-esque airships and cold fusion, may have existed at one point or another in history.
That's the catch: the Offline world is set in a far-gone, post-apocalyptic time, around the 25th or 26th century. The original time of man, the time we live in today, has long since collapsed, and the RP begins in a medieval-tech world, with warlords and kings waging for dominance, all over the globe.
Then, the Online world. The characters will discover, one way or another, a hidden chamber, consisting of high-tech systems such as computers, air-conditioning, and an advanced Artificial Intelligence overseer. Amidst all these wonders are the VR Pods, the entrance to the Online world.
Online is an experimental simulation of the real world throughout history, albeit an experiment that was nearing completion before the First End. It was designed to be used to train better soldier, test scientific experiments in a safe enviroment, and explore history in a totally unbiased form. That's all I'm willing to reveal right now, because I have to have some secrets.
The characters could be from Offline, or Online. A sort of 'carrying device' can be used to bring the Online world out of the Chamber, to Offline. Sort of like bringing a person with you, inside of a device. A.I, basically.
    -----
The Plot revolves around the general reintroduction of science and technology to the Offline world, and the wondrous adventures Online.

    Aulm
    -(Prn: Allm/[Personal]--Aulman: All-Man)-
    -----
The 'empire of conquest'. Aulm. The most widespread of the groups on North America, Aulm stretches from the Old Rocks to the Applans ((Rockies mountains to the Appalachians)), and up into the Barren Norths. The warriors of Aulm are masters of fighting in groups. The Aulman army is considered the greatest fighters in the western hemisphere, if not the whole world.
Harsh and militaristic, Aulm expects all of their young males to serve in the military for at least fifteen years of their lives, unless specifically chosen by a master craftsmen of one of the many guilds set up throughout the empire. When not on active duty, the soldiers are instead used as farmers, to supply the nation with food.
The aforementioned Guilds include ones of metal-working, tactics, hunting, fishing, science, alchemy, and other various topics. Despite Aulm's legendary army, the Aulmans are average, at best, with other topics, and so have created trade agreements with other, more skilled countries, in an effort to strengthen their overall standing in the world. Master craftsmen of other nations share their knowledge with specially chosen Aulman youths, and the Aulmans, in return, send troops to the craftman's hailing city-state.
Strangely, unlike one would expect in such a society, the women and girls are essentially free to do as they please. They can attend scholarly institutes, obtain jobs wherever they can prove their worth, and are treated as equals by the men, aside from the lack of forced military service for women.
Led by a triumvirate of rulers which cycle every five years.
    Edyn
    -(Prn: Eh-din/[Personal]--Edyns: Eh-Dins)-
    -----
Edyn people do not believe in imperfections. Led by a pair of Godsouls, religious prophets who claim to be direct descendants of a God himself. They say they can trace their bloodlines directly back to the Garden of Edyn itself, for which they named their country. Highly religious and vastly elitist, the Man and Woman (whose names have never been revealed to the public) have decreed that any unstable mind or weakened children must be either exiled or killed.
Their followers are kept in line by a mix of fear, and displays of the Godsouls' magnificent might. Even the top scholars of the world are unable to explain some of the displays spoken of in the secretive country.
In return for their 'faith', the Edyns live in an almost perfect paradise. Their manufacturing, defense, and food supplies are mysteriously taken care of by unknown or unseen forces. The Edyns spend their days wandering, singing, dancing. All that was required was a little sacrifice.
    Fortis
    -(Prn: For-TIS/[Personal]--Fortisan: For-TIS-ian)-
    -----
The people of the chill north. Fortis is the smallest country in the western hemisphere, taking up a mere fraction of land. Their small size is highly intentional, and has yet to be questioned by the other nations. Fortisian Beligrants, or 'War Schools', are considered the best in the entire world. In the past few centuries since its' founding, Fortis has been the training ground and birthplace of some of the worlds greatest combatants.
Whereas Aulm warriors fight as a unit with legendary precision, Fortisian men are hailed as legendary tactical advisers, and masterful single-combat specialists. The country is led by a challenger-based council, where the strongest warrior serves as leader of said council, and has the most power. Although organized thus, the common people of Fortis are mainly arrayed in a sort of nomadic, tribe-like setup, with only a small amount of fully established cities existing.
The cold of the land has hardened the Fortisian people. They are expert hunters, trackers, and survivalists.
    Ichtha
    -(Prn: Ik-Thah/[Personal]--Ichthan: Ik-Than)-
    -----
Ichtha's primary method of income and food is, and has always been, the sea. Living on the coast-line has provided the Ichthans with a steady and valuable means of collecting wealth. Mertac and Ichtha generally partner in their dealings across the Atlean ocean. Ichthan ships and Mertac mechants make a formidable trading duo.

On a well made Ichthan vessel, the trip across the Atlean can be cut drastically, especially if a skilled captain mans the wheel. To this end, Aulm is trying to bargain a deal with the Icthans: military guards on Icthan vessels in return for for a navy-guild

Icthan's navy is their strongest wartime asset, even if they aren't the most powerful marine force of the time. That claim goes to Bretaim, the island nation off the coast of Europe.

    Mertac
    -(Prn: Mare-tack/[Personal]--Mertan: Mare-Tahn)-
    -----
Mertac is considered the most widespread nation on the globe. From it's first inception, the country was built on a strict economic standard of 'no-debt', which, in a completely unknown manner, has actually been kept: Mertac owes no dues to any other countries, and it's amazing credit makes it the prime negotiator, being unbiased by debts.

The Mertan government is run as by balanced council of elected officials based on merit and the popular vote. In simpler terms, those displaying the most knowledge of leadership or economics are granted the highest offices of power. This is both a good and a bad thing, as some of the common folk are worried that corruption is ripe for destroying this system. Thus far, however, the council has done nothing but bring Mertac to the height of wealth.

The Mertan 'empire' is simply a series of colonies and territories purchased legally and in full by the Mertan Government. The original country was founded on the west coast of North America, and has since spread to all four corners of the globe, albeit sprinkled here and there, as opposed to a cohesive empire such as Aulm.

On another note, despite Fortis being well-known for their survival and hunting techniques, it is Mertans who are exploring the world, determined to map every corner of the globe. Their survival techniques are also top notch.
    Ohlis
    -(Prn: Oh-Liss/[Personal]--Ohlisan: Oh-Liss-An)-
    -----
Ohlis is the second smallest country in the middle region of North America, and one of the most chaotic. Although led by a king, the area is vastly disputed by the other different nations, and the lords and ladies of Ohlis itself. The king has long since given up any real power, as none of his subjects truly respect him.

These disputes started with rumors of a legendary 'magic' or 'science' hidden somewhere on Ohlisan, which is said to have the ability to topple kingdoms, and annihilate mountains. All of the nearby nations send covert parties into Ohlis to search, and when the amount of 'bandit' attacks increased, some of the more power-hungry lords saw their chance, and leapt to war.

Thus, at present time, Ohlis is not very established in world standing for any reason, with the rulers squabbling amongst themselves. Before the fighting began, however, the Ohlis was regarded to be a paradise for craftsmen of any kind, with vast arrays of natural resources hidden within the nation's boundaries.

Even now, amidst the fighting, the Ohlisan smiths can make a living with their high-quality weaponry and farm tools. All the same, Ohlis is the most msytical area of current time, with everyone wondering as to what power lies hidden in the country's rolling hills.

  8. Torol

    Torol Subatomic Cosmonaut

    Name: Duncan Rhodes
    Age: 29
Appearance: Duncan is about six feet tall, although he slouches, with brown eyes and blonde hair. He isn't very stout, and while he is muscular, it isn't very prominent on his frame. He wears a brown eye patch over one of his eyes, although he is not missing either one. He wears a white shirt with short sleeves, blue pants, and short leather boots. Duncan also wears a pair of archery gloves, and has a belt that carries a hip quiver on his left hip, and a dagger (in sheath) on his right. There is also a knife behind the dagger, and a satchel over his shoulder, resting just below the dagger.
Personality: Duncan is a ruthlessly optimistic guy, who is relatively carefree. He typically wears a smile, even in dark times, and has a natural curiosity for all things historical. He is also curious about science and the world in general, but he has a particular affinity with history. Duncan is a usually friendly fellow, and while he does get somewhat flustered in new situations, he has adapted somewhat. He is a strong believer in free choice, and dislikes the 'monarchy' who currently rule over the lands. This dislike is a main driving point of his personality, and he is needlessly biased because of it. Duncan is a music lover, and has many songs that he can (and will) sing. Some of his most valued possessions are music books he discovered and has kept with him since. While he is incapable of playing an instrument, Duncan is still capable of reading music and has a good ear for it. Most of his good mood is accompanied by a hummed tune or jaunty step.
History: Duncan was born and raised in the ruins of Montana, under the rule of a particularly cruel man. During his short years spent there, he was always curious about many things labelled taboo by the regime. Eventually, this caught up with him, and he was banished from his home. Duncan, however, was not deterred by this, and he continued his search for history through his life. Because of this, he has been chased out of many places, and was forced to defend himself very early on. During one chase, Duncan fell into a hole in the ground and discovered a buried building full of music. He became fascinated by the notes, and took several of the thin music books with him upon discovering an exit. They are his main link to the past, and while he is not sure why they exist, some of them provide an excellent look backwards. Since then, Duncan has journeyed onwards in search of more concrete links to the past, but he has still kept the music books, and keeps them in the best repair he can. He has often used the music he has memorized to earn money or stay at inns, and while it is not his main pursuit, Duncan still keeps an eye out for music to potentially learn.
His main pursuit is not a very fruitful one, as Duncan has found very little history at all. Most of his historical knowledge involves a giant ship with a rather peculiar name that crashed in April. This information, as false as it may seem, still invigorates his interest in the past, because something impossible may well have happened. Despite his failure to locate much information at all, Duncan remains on his path of sought discovery. He'd heard that there might be a library of past knowledge located within the Edyn area, and so he started his westward.

    Torang12 Phantasmal Quasar

    Name: Toran Dancianis
    Age: 21
    Appearance: Semi-wild Black Hair
    In this hairstyle, [IMG]
Toran primarily wears a Dark Grey apron, white dress shirt, black pants, black boots, and brown gloves. He has light brown eyes, ocassionally covered by a welding mask when working. He also wears an iron ring on his left hand. Standing at 6 feet and 1 inch, he was at about average height for his age. He was muscular from his work with forging weapons, working hard to supply the army with swords and other necessary implements.
Personality: Toran can be quite ill-tempered, easily annoyed by useless things. His long work during the day keeps him away from most public places. When not working, he can be quite amusing to be around, but it is hard to find him at a point where he is not occupied. He enjoys discoveries, and longs for a taste of adventure. He can be found reading books, trying to satisfy this lust. He creates special weapons every so often which he believes are the weapons he will wield one day, by his own choice, not in the military.
History: Working as a weapon-forger in Aulm to at least make a living in this time, Toran works as an apprentice to a master craftsman, to keep from being recruited into the military. Crafting during most of the day, reading himself to sleep, he found this to be his average routine. He became tired of this cycle he had put himself in, ever-repeating until his eventual death, as it seemed. He wished to change it all. He switched from the adventure novels he was accustomed to read, to a stack of old technological findings within the collection he could find in his freetime. He began searching for an answer, group, or fable that would finally fulfill this lust that he had for so long.

    Unit 06 Big Damn Hero

    Name:
    Lucius Tyler
    Age:
    31
    Appearance:
The most notable thing about Lucius would be his skin, appearing pale as snow and with a set of bright blue eyes. His frame is quite slim but with some subtle hints of muscle as well featuring a large collection of bruises and scars across his torso and back, he stands quite laid-back and relaxed. His hair is a dull-shade of blond with hints of silver and white. Lucius' face is plain in terms of appearance, being slender-shaped and with a pointed chin. His face is clean of any bruises or imperfections, appearing quite pleasant to the eye despite the exhausted look he always carries in his eyes.
He always dresses in either a set of ragged leather, adorned with thick hide and carrying a set of sharp-blades or wearing a more sophisticated suit, made of expensive fabric.
    Casual Appearance-
    [IMG]
    Armored Appearance -
    [IMG]
    Personality:
Lucius is a sinister minded man, taking pleasure in the torment of both animals and other people. He often goes out of his way to ensure those around him endure at least some form of physical or mental pain. However, often he will take a guise to hide his dark personality if he has a hidden motive or intention. Despite his cruel ways he isn't entirely heartless, those who might earn his interest or trust might be fortunate enough to evade his harsh mannerism.
    History:
Born in one of the eastern continents of the world, Lucius was son of a powerful warlord who ruled dominant across the land. From the moment he could speak he was granted a heavy burden, trained and worked so that he'd be the perfect heir to succeed his father when he might pass on. Despite his position he had a fairly relaxed childhood and grew into a powerful position beneath his gradually aging father, serving as a Lieutenant in his armies.
Due to a growing tension between him and his father, he was sent away to cross the sea for the intent of scouting out distant lands to learn of any opposing force or potential land worth taking. In recent he's been scanning out the areas of Fortis and Mertac, Ohlis being his next destination.

  16. Name: Misha
    Age: 21
    Appearance:

Personality: Misha is a well-mannered and curious, yet naive girl. She tends to try and help those she thinks are in need, even if they are unsavory. Having been brought up in a noble household, Misha has grown accustom to wearing the finest clothing, eating good food and other luxuries. Of course, being brought up in such a lavish life style, she does not understand the various hardships of the lower castes to the point of seeming daft towards simple commodities such as hot water or food.
History: Misha was born to a noble family, most of her early life was very uneventful, though wonderful in comparison to most families. As she grew older, Misha became a curious little thing, always looking for something to focus her interest on just long enough to appease her desire to learn. Her parent would constantly buy her new toys or books, only to have her want more shortly after receiving the objects.
One day, Misha, to appease her curiosity, decided to take a walk into the woods a short distance from her family's estate. After walking for sometime and picking various flowers that she could find, the girl quickly realized that she had become lost, and that night was slowly approaching.
