Funny thing is I lived through all of that. But after Ubuntu switched to that awful UNITY interface or whatever they call their tablet-OS crap and forced it on PC users I gave up and went with Windows-only on my PC's. I enjoyed getting WINE to work, in fact I tested some games for it. Had some surprising results. UFO:Aftershock loaded 10x faster and ran much smoother in Linux WINE than on the same PC in WinXP. Anyway as I said I gave up, recently I tried Linux Mint and that is basically Ubuntu without UNITY and a few extras, it's turning into a fork that's more popular than the original. In fact on DistroWatch Mint is nearly twice as popular as Ubuntu. Blah, I better stop talking before the Penguin-inside-of-me keeps going on and on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux

EDIT: To keep on topic, I hope someone makes a Linux box. It's a full-blown Linux OS if you want it to be with the capability to play games. Have more emphasis on browsing than the PS3 has along with a few other OS capabilities, but since each box has the same hardware games can be optimized for it. Cool, probably won't happen though.

I'm going to reply to that first part in a PM.

Hopefully Steam's Linuxbox will be that, I would have to look it up but I think the plan was to make it a PC box and a game box where you can boot up a full linux OS to use for certain things or boot into a barebone (like chromeOS) linux designed to only run steam (likely in big picture mode) and the games. I really should look into that.

I'm not all that thrilled with its selection of original games.
And I'm not even looking at the remakes or ports.
