Hate to burst your bubble. But I highly doubt those came from just suggestions. Those are not an overnight coding those were very likely things they were already working on before the beta.

I mean to specifically imply that those only resulted from http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/the-game-we-want.48657/ . What I intended to imply was that our passion for the thread may have elected the content currently being worked on by the Chucklefish team.

I hope they include some solutions to these new problems and some incentive to brave them or I'll just avoid them much like I avoid moons before getting high tier (warm) armor. As it stands, there isn't much reason to freeze to death on a moon early in the game when you could just go mine a warm desert. I 'could' don some low armor warm weather gear and die from every hit I take by a strangely highly populated moon, but that wouldn't be fun. Similarly, if I have to replace my armor with some crappy low armor environmental suit or replace my backlight with an O tank, there had better be some compelling incentive to do so or I'll just hop to the next planet.

I'd be surprised if bad weather was a highly anticipated feature. Typically its a feature a few people ask for and nobody actually likes. Weather implementation is almost always just an annoyance.

Bad weather, forced gear requirements... seems like annoyance features to me. I hope they come packaged with some good stuff like more things to explore, better weapon crafting, making guns drop from gun wielding enemies, ship customization, ect.

While I agree, they need more temperature-helpful gear, as it is environments are visually random, but ultimately lifeless. Bad weather comes part and parcel with environmental variety, and it has been asked for by quite a few people. So while it can be annoying, so can monsters, but without them we're not challenged and the game quickly grows listless and boring.

Part of the whole procedural exploration focus is that they're not focused on making it another 'about the weapons' game. They want to give you more reason to visit a planet beyond the promise of the next tier of loot, and thank God.

YES! Airless moons, and planetary weather variations, this is what I've wanted since the Beta launched! GIMME!

I don't know why I love the concept of airless moons so much, I guess because it will provide variation in gameplay, and force people to improvise. You need a vac-suit to explore some planets, and that means leaving your fancy, smancy armor behind.

Soooo.. does this mean they are finally going to add heat to the game? It would be nice if desert worlds are actually difficult to mine rather then ore gathering fests due to sand mechanics..

    That or add crushing damage.

I was never put off from exploration by a lack of weather, and indeed, exploration is my favorite aspect of the game. I've seen game after game boast about weather affects, but I've yet to find an implementation that wasn't annoying. At its best, its just a bit of nice art. At worst, it creates an environment that I cannot explore, forcing me to wait it out, which isn't fun at all. Weather is just one of those things that is great on paper, but has very little potential to improve gameplay and great potential to harm it. I think development would easily get more bang for the buck working on practically any other aspect of the game. Sure, I guess they could win the lottery and come up with the idea for the first weather system that actually adds fun to a game, but that isn't exactly a winning gamble.

Yeah, the game is great so far, but me and the rest of the people that play on my server are hungry for more content and more challenge! :D

Nah, I get what you're saying, and you're right, implementing a weather system is far more tempermental than something guaranteed to offend no one like just adding more items. It requires a lot of balance to make a snowstorm just right for both people looking for challenge variety and people looking to not be distracted from how they prefer to play. But I think ultimately even if it just ended up as an art pass and nothing more than added visuals, I think a lot of us would be happy to have it. I still stand by the planets all being different colours but ultimately dead. Randomized animals and the occasional village/dungeon/camp isn't enough to make a planet alive and interesting.

But I like the idea of some planets being too hostile to really approach, leaving a good element for players who want a real challenge to take on, and those who don't to avoid that planet, and I think a diverse (and affecting) weather system could provide that.

I would really like that idea if there were some possible rewards for exploring overly hostile planets. Before the balance patch, I had a nifty explerience exploring a moon for the first time. I beamed down, found that I was rapidly freezing.... so of course, I warped back up. I looked through what I could craft to see about some warmer armor and noticed the warm weather gear. I was perfectly progressed for that moment in the game. At any other level of progression, things would not have worked out quite right. The armor I was wearing was worth 15 defense. The warm weather gear was 13. Lose 2 armor and I get to explore this moon! I'm in! So I make that tradeoff and go about exploring the moon. I eventually found a futuristic base operated by non-medieval glitches and got shot at by laser rifles. It was glorious! I hadn't seen it before and I thought it must be some cool thing that only spawns on moons. I had a grand time exploring.

I was later disappointed to find the same thing spawned on a grasslands world, realizing my great moon adventure was a farce and knowing then that I had no real need to explore another moon. I'm glad I had that great moon adventure, even if it was only dumb luck.

I rather wish that hostile worlds with special rewards would become a thing, and I think the devs intend to do that eventually... at least, the stubs for it are there. Maybe that is what these new features are about. I want there to be new content to go along with these harsh conditions though making them something challenging to explore rather than something annoying to be avoided.
