Our Solar System in Starbound?

Considering it's in the story, I'd like to see the Sol system as an easter egg or something. Like in Spore.

 

What is this "story mode" you keep mentioning? I've never seen any reference to it in blog posts or dev quotes. As far as I'm aware, the completed game will have one game mode (two if you count MP), which will use a non-linear exploration-based structure, with scripted story missions at the end of each technological tier and randomized side-quests.

Right, but a central plot doesn't imply a separate, linear game mode. All I've seen reference to is a loose story structure centered around the boss quests, with the previously-mentioned randomized side-quests to provide content in between.

 

If im not mistaken, wasnt the earth destroyed by tentacle monsters? (no not japan)

 

it was infested by the tentacle monster yes. But according to the codex there are plans being set in motion to attempt to take it back

This is from before the game came out in beta, which means before people knew that Earth was destroyed...

to be completely fair, if you were to introduce the starting homeworlds of all 6 races, it wouldn't just be earth that is decimated. I remember coming across something in the lore that the hylotl planet gets overrun by the floran forcing them to evacuate as well.

that being said... seeing it as some kind of special end point for a huge story/quest line, and especially having it be different depending on which race you are... what isn't to like about the thought of that?

 

I'm hoping the endgame human quests involve you leading/joining/working with the USCM to take back Earth and reestablish it as Humanity's capital.

 

I had an image of people and drones gathering clumps of tentacles after massive battle. Humans will need a lot of cleaners. Or maybe they should just bomb the Earth with "Democracy" from the orbit and find a new home.

Well, Earth isn't destroyed, its just a tentacle planet like all the others. Perhaps it could have ruined skyscrapers and biome variation along with oceans, and pregenerated animals that looked like tentacled corrupted versions of Earth fauna.

 

A post-apocalyptic Earth would be cool. I reckon there could a group of human 'survivors' inhabiting the ruins of what was once our home .

 

I'd personally want to be able to nab the apolo lander stuff from the moon and the flag... .. it would be fun to have an easter egg version of our solar system...

 

Well earth would be missing. Because when you have a human character and read the codex, WHY THE HELL DOES THIS KEEP SAYING DRAFT SAVED, so where was I again? Oh yhea if you read codex A human journey begins you read that earth is destroyed

I hope we can experience this kind of thing no matter the race. I may be a Hylotl , but some of my crew will be human and will no doubt want to help out., that's what we do

 

Would wish for every races core worlds to appear, quest-related maybe.
