the game is 2d and rendered in directx9. theres no reason it shouldnt run on xp. it WAS something with the game, because one of our forum members here was able to find the problem and make an unofficial fix. search sammy's SDL.DLL he got the game to work on xp with a single file.

 

Wood IS the definiton of MANliness.

Doubly so if you chopped it down with a PICKAXE(Since we can't punch it with our fists).

 

so your saying a dev of the game is wrong?

it was a bug in windows XP and the DLL was the fix.

 

I wonder if they're going to add kick/ban for the server admins, fix the dupe glitch and make it so you can't edit your pickaxe or whatever to mine through like 30 blocks. Perhaps they'll fix the player-caused explosions damaging other players. Would solve a LOT of MP problems.

Then perhaps they should use that fix, instead of demanding the devs spend time making another one entirely. Dead OS shouldn't be catered to, this is why there are "unofficial fixes" to begin with.


They won't be addressing "hacking" for a while, since there's no point in trying to deal with mp user issues when everything will be wiped on a frequent basis. That's one of those things you'd look into fixing once you know things will be sticking around for good.

And even with some sort of "hack prevention system", which honestly, no one wants when you get down to it, people will still find ways around it, the only difference is, the only ones who will be doing it then, are the ones who are ONLY going to use it to cause problems. You want a hack free environment? Don't give out your server information to the world.

There is no reason why this game can't run just as well as Terraria in the future. Right now my laptop runs terraria flawless while Starbound stutters and crashes. I'm hoping in the coming year of development I can play this game on my Asus T100 more smoothly.

Well I'm not playing until its updated. Don't feel like progressing a character that will eventually be deleted.
