For those of us that bought the game yesterday; can we get an update on when to expect the patch? since its a character wipe I would love to get started without having a hard reset without getting very far.

Had the same thing, delete your appcache in steam folder, verify your files or reinstall. There seems to be a few reasons as to why one gets that message. Worked for me anyway.
