You killers!!! Why did you drive my whole race from our planet? We were peaceful, style loving Hylotls. We were spreading love and peace. We even didn't eat meat. You are all savages!!! You deserve no empathy from us!!!
Despite the post saying it was done and needed testing, I don't think the xp fix was really done until very recently, so it didn't make sense to release 2 updates in very rapid succession. (speaking as an xp user myself) Someone named sammy released a replacement sdl.dll file that allows for xp users to at least play, though potentially slower than it should be. I played around for 6 or 7 hours yesterday using it.
Hey, not sure if this has been mentioned earlier in this comment section (because I'm lazy and don't feel like reading 7 pages of comments), but I'm having an issue as a server host. For whatever reason, it appears that Starbound is not forwarding its port through the router. The first version release made the game work fine, but after the update the thing broke down. The 2 main files I've looked at are inside the /assets folder, server.config and default_configuration.config. upnpPortForwarding is set to true, and the gameport, authport, and controlport are all set to 25565 (a port already open on my router), though I've experimented by setting gameport to 25565 and leaving the others to default. In any case, I was hoping for some help resolving this issue in this update, or by fixing it in the next. Thank you for your time, keep up the great work Chucklefish, even in beta this game is very well fleshed out!
i agree it's a core item to have worked on, but again, it's stupidly hard to make AI work well. the adding babies? that's pretty simple, and probably took very little time. so they're trying to have a few bits and bobs to go along with the more major changes. this is literally the first major update... and it's been a week. you do realize how fast that is, don't you? the AI is something they've been working on for a while just to get it to where it is. it is going to take more time, and i'd imagine they'll have a huge AI update. but we have to be patient. i mean good grief, the game has only been in the wild for less than a week and people are already complaining about how "slow" things are going! think about that for a second. then realize how silly it is to complain about it. we don't know what their update schedule is, we don't know what they're working on behind the scenes, we know nothing that they don't tell us, and rankly they've told us very little. to be completely frank, i think things like being able to delete a character from in the game, and keybinding are ever so slightly more important to have implemented than the AI which is functional for now.
And so begins the epic battle between myself and the F5 button. Thank god I have two screens or else I would be completely stoping this project every 5 minutes to check if the update has been released yet. And I hope that my idea of what "really soon" is, falls in line with the devs. I cant wait!
This game has so much potential and it's great to see you guys working so fast! It's unbelievable, keep up the good work. I think this game could surpass Terraria soon. I'm sad about the character wipe, but I understand it being a BETA. just please push out this update soon so i can jump back in I stopped playing when i heard about the impending wipe.
PLEASE fix the graphics so all computers can run it, you are putting in all this good stuff but some people still cant run it. Its so choppy I cant even play it, yet my brother (who has a worse computer than mine) can run it.
[quote="Crosswar, post: i wanna play but don't want to continue since it's gonna wipe. i feel your paibn but as they say beta is beta
yea when is soon? because if the characters are 100% being reset there isn't much point in continuing with playing right now until the reset has been done i suppose
Regarding character resets---Do you guys really want to tie the hands of the hands of the developers -at all-? If they need to reset for even the slightest thing, they should and have no hesitation to do so. Everyoone's like 'a reset so soon?' I'm surprised there hasn't been one already, I was expecting them every few days with each update. I get that everyones spent a lot of time in the game, and its only going to get better guys! I'm trying to make a Let's Play/Machinima series with the game right (Synplay on YT) now and a character wipe is going to be rough on me but I'll make it work. I am 100% for resets whenever the Developers need them, regardless if they can find odd work around to only do partial resets or not.
