Other bits and pieces coming with the balance update

Got this game Friday and already invested around 40 hours into it.
I have to agree with some of the cases made, though. Knowing your character will be wiped in a few days makes you want to sit down and just wait patiently before starting again.

 

No one tried about going to Starbound folder and copy the data of Characters? If I do that, what will happen? An epic crash when i try to play, an unupdated game?

 

Nice to know, this game is fuck1ng gr34t, 90.000 players everyday at same time with just 3 days of beta.

ouch.. I feel sorry for everyone that crashs alot.. I feel lucky though.. I only had 1 crash and that was because i hit join server without typing anything..

 

I still fail to see your logic in adding 25% extra damage. Cannibalistic killerplants? Because they eat other plants? Mammals eat mammals, does that make them cannibals? But how can one forward ports when connected directly through a modem? If it's a direct connection to you, like say Minecraft and Terraria, ports shouldn't be needed, correct?

 

your modem probably acts as a router so u need to input your ip adress in the website bar and login on the following screen.

 

It must not, because it's 404ing, both with global IP and local.

Correct, However if you have a firewall, or your Modem has a firewall, you need to open those ports to allow people to connect through.

No ingame crashes here either in 28 hours of gameplay, pretty awesomely stable

 

Imagine your internet connection as your cable/satellite TV. Your the receiver set-top box is the IP address and the Channels are the ports. In order to receive the tv show you want, you need to be using the correct channel that hosts that, same as ports.

 

OpenGL mode is very stable. But with the normal exe I got some black-screen bug sometimes

 

Yea I use OpenGL too, it simply runs way better for me.

 

If you're crashing, use the opengl-starbound.exe. back up the original starbound.exe somewhere, and then rename the opengl one to 'starbound.exe' - should fix a lot of crashes.

On the other hand probably asked to death : is there an ETA? I'm apprehensive of playing anymore with this short of a wait,
