Wait, i need to defeat the ufo boss for the molten core and craft the distress signal thing? I thought making and using THAT would call the boss, kinda like the boss-spawning items in terraria.

oh, wow, so we are on yet ANOTHER ~500 MB update for small hot-fixes, wonderful. Not being hateful, if that's how it sounds, but i'd like to, idk, play the game when i get home from work rather than wait an hour to fix a couple things in the game almost every day. getting to be rather annoying, in my honest opinion. i update my game at 2:47pm today, and now updating again at 7:23pm. I know it's beta, but it'd be a good idea to fix that for slow internet users as well in the future, like you did with your servers.

EDIT: I fit's not the exe that's updating each time, but actual content added and such, then I'm fine with that. Then that means they're adding the content to the game to gauge how well it works in open beta, making it easier for them to add content, which I'm fine with since all the modding people will do.

 

Was that all? In that 500mb update?

 

Like I said, as far as I know it's the way the updates are sent out and formatted. Every update will probably be 500MB minimum. I don't know why, but that's the case.

 

Actually, no. Making tier2 weapon kill tier 1 birdies in 5 hits is hardly a fix.

 

Why did I lose my save/universe? I just bought the game like 2 days ago and played it non-stop and I had a castle to defeat these penguin guys, ect...... but now I have to restart.! Is there no way to back up your saves before, or prevent this?
I'm not going to play the game If I always lose my save without expecting it. If it helps, I play the game on Steam.

The starbound windows exe alone is 600 MB so I'm surprised its only a 500 MB update.

The updates will always be a minimum of 580mb or more as long as the important stuff keeps being all packed into the exe file. Thus the entire exe has to update, even if they only made tiny changes within one file that is packed in the exe

 

It's called Beta Testing.

Nope, you should see the collection of VHS that my mom has gathered. We have a very nice Sony (SLV-679HF) VHS player that hasn't quit on us yet. In fact there was a very short time that I remember my mom owning a BetaMAX player (I was three). We also have a bunch of 8-Tracks lying around (My favorite being the "No Nukes" concert). The worst part is that I'm 20 and my youngest sibling is 13. and we all know about all of this technology. Every time I mention something like the SEGA Genesis, everyone says, "What's that?". My (13 year old) sister mentioned the Atari and Genesis in her class as two of the game consoles she had played, and only the teacher knew what she was talking about. She came home that day telling us, "I felt so old today because nobody but my teacher knew about these games".

I just wish that every new generation could enjoy all of the joys and the creativity that happened in the 80's and 90's. I know that I'll be keeping my Genesis and NES and the 40 and 60 game collections we have for them and before I get my children any modern console. I'll have them play these two consoles for a year or two before I get them a "Next Gen" console.
