Put Steam in offline mode and never go online ever again. Actually what I used to do for Skyrim was have a second "offline" Steam install while I waited for mods to update/see if Bethesda broke their game again. I dont think its a good idea at all, but its an option.
I thought the update was supposed to be today? At least thats what a tweet from @starboundgame said. Oh well, lets just hope they get it out tomorrow.
I'm worried about it getting dumbed down as well. I feel like they should have tried to make the current system work instead of just trashing it for a generic, simple cookie cutter method.
Which, of course, is totally correct ... with 30% loss per death, losing twice would give you 0.7² remaining pixels = 0.49 * value of total pixels before your losses
Ok strangemind im not saying there not working im saying they should be putting out more info because they have a bunch of people staying up for this update
Arggh! I want to play, but I don't want to play if everything I'm gonna do is going to be obliterated. Edit:Also last I really heard, they were playtesting the update, but that was hours ago. Don't know if they found an issue or something.
I've heard this. And still don't understand it. Yes it is better than constantly losing pixels if your death prone. But why do we have to have an arbitrary tax on our pixels to store them at all? It just seems... artificial. But whatever. I rarely ever die... I'm rather careful and methodical when I play a game like this... So I'll probably only use it before summoning a boss.
you can cancel the update and keep the game as it is if you are so inclined... youll end up missing out on a lot. if it turns out to be bad and people make a huge backlash then im sure the devs will compromise. it may very well turn out to be a hybrid of the current system and the proposed changes. as beta testers we have the privilege of critiquing the development process, to which the devs have been very receptive. theres obviously going to be lots of changes over the next few months or so, im just glad to be along for the ride. i cant wait for mods and dedicated servers to start coming out. if they do it right this game is gonna have one hell of a golden age in that regard.
its true though, they were better off just explaining that "armor pen." is relative to "item level". Oh well as long as it doesn't drastically change the game play experience, I could care less.
True. they did say they were changing to 30 per cent pixel loss per death, again. And i think that you lose like.. 40/41 per cent of the pixels when banking? if you do take it into account, if you die twice you lose 20 per cent more pixels than if you stored. I'll just play the way they put it. They're the developers after all.
Would you have it preffered it take a month? it being "hours" late is a pretty damn good deal compared to the "weeks" or "months" late of other games in the past, back when developpers depended fully on publishers/half a dozen retailers which all had different DRM requirement to be taken into account and would often delay a patch for weeks because it broke with the implementation of one or two of these multitudes of DRMs(or it would get released, but the people whose publishers required said DRM for their region of the world would find themselves having to wait while everybody else were playing the patched and fixed version). I mean all due respect, but there's something to be said about how Steam unified this DRM mess into a single standard for PC. ... though apparently we now have today people who get angry or snarky because a patch is a single day late. The patch could be a week late that I wouldn't hold it against the devs because at the end of the day, they are the folks who have to mess with the complex code of a very complex game. One whose beta, had they not decided otherwise, they weren't even planning to make public originally.
