I don't know what you've been playing but I find tons of stuff when I go underground. Also, I love the monster generation in this game. I love going to a new planet and seeing what weird combinations occur. If you dislike the game because the monsters are procedurally generated as opposed to every mob being created individually then i'm not sure what to say. Also, not to diss on Terraria since I loved that game, the mobs in Terraria weren't that much different from each other so you really have no leg to stand on comparing the two.

Hey, it worked. Thank you so much for that piece of advice, I was hesitant to have to open another port, but it worked. Thank you so much!

So are character resets 100% surefire going to happen now?

Or is it still a question? And is it tonight?

Thanks to anyone who can answer these :)

I'm wondering the same thing. I accepted when I signed up that character deletion will happen, and that doesn't bother me. What bothers me is knowing it's pointless to play until the update. I'd personally prefer it as a "surprise your characters will be gone" sort of thing :p

Character resets are a given in Beta. If you're asking if your character is safe, you shouldn't be participating in a beta test.

Speaking of creature development, I really think the entire thing needs a bit of an overhaul.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I think the creatures in this game are a little bit clashing with the aesthetic of the game, and that aesthetic of the game in and of itself clashes with itself too. Something I think must be addressed is this clash.

I want to see creatures adapted to the cold in arctic environments. Vibrancy in tropical worlds. Uniqueness and variety ranging from peaceful, grey-brown giants to bioluminescent beauties. There needs to be greater association between environment and ecosystem that can be readily seen—for the ultimate goal of a flowing aesthetic.

    On the environments:

I've looked at a lot of early playing of Starbound, and I keep seeing the same sort of world. Grasslands and vaguely deciduous trees.
There needs to be more variety. I'm seeing a lot of procedural generation reminiscent of Spore, which worries me. Spore was another game with huge ambition that also involved procedural generation, and in many ways that game was a let-down. Instead of feeling infinitely replayable, it felt like a regenerated series of only faintly different worlds. Alien worlds are more than just recolored reskins of Earth. There has to be greater uniqueness to each world.

I want each world to be memorable and unique. But most importantly, the overall aesthetic of each world cannot be this:

well this is still beta so everything can happen. But this really annoyed me: I was playing game with my little bro's character, i got him like 5 dmd and a stack of silver in a winter biome so it's easier for him,... and then suddenly my game started lagging horribly so i pressed "save and quit" but instead PC just instantly turned off (no warnings, no crashes, no bluescreens, it just turned off instantly). Now the player doesn't show up anymore, because it's corrupted.

What i'm saying is, there should be an autosave + auto-backup-save option. So whenever something happens you still could play with your character even if the file got corrupted.
This would work like: First it makes 2 saves (save and backup of profile) > After 3 min. it saves profile > After 3 more min. it saves backup > After 3 more min. it saves profile > After 3 more min it saves backup > ... So every 6 min. it would make a save, and every next 3 it would make a backup.

Whats going to happen with the Windows 8 problem that many people are having. Its the Access Violation. Are there any plans to fix this?

Again, do you realise how bad this argument actually is?
It's basically saying : let's do something people will notice rather than something good.
And news alert, look at the other post here, i'm not the only one speaking about the mobs... So yeah, people will notice, or at least... they should...

Did they say they were going to make it work for older Max OS somewhere?
Steam page says minimum requirement is 10.8 OS x

I'm sure someone here (or fifty someones here) has already mentioned the problem, but many Mac OS users are unable to play the game; the game won't boot. It's occurring on my 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) but a lot of others are having the exact same problem except for some Mavericks users. Do you know when you may be able to fix this?

I don't get why everyone gets so pissed off when this question is brought up. It's a reasonable question, just as it's reasonable that our characters COULD BE reset since we are playing in the beta of a game. We aren't going too rant and complain if they get reset, but we would really like to know if it's actually going to happen or if it's not. Not just "hey this is a beta so SUPRISE your characters are reset!! :) :)"

All we are asking for is a simple "Characters will be reset on this update tonight."

I don't get why so many people are to irritated at this simple question. Yes, it is a beta and it's reasonable that our characters should get reset at any point in time. But it's also just as reasonable that we know when they are getting reset.

This is absolutely the most fair review of the game's aesthetic I've seen. Every world has these stupid, neon-pink and yellow monsters. Look, I'll say it again as I've said it before. It's not about disliking pink or even neon. It's about aesthetics. You want neon-pink, chucklefish? Use it on oceanic fish and flowers, not random predatory animals in a world in which they'd stick out like a sore thumb. It's very near immersion breaking.

I don't hate the fact that the mobs are radomly generated. I HATE the fact that mobs just get a different tail, some new colors or stuff like that, and the AI stays the same, so even if the mob in planet #1 looked like a beast, when you go to planet #2 you find a mob that looks less aggresive, they are just the same thing. Sure, each planet might get a new looking mob, but is that really good? Sometimes they just clash with the planet theme, and you might get bored of them sooner or later because if you killed a mob, you can now kill the 50% in game because they are the same thing.

Again, i'm going to repeat this : They had 2 YEARS, maybe even more, and a 3 Million budget to make a good game. WHY is the game BLAND when they had a lot of TIME to make it better? You people keep saying "it's a beta, it's a beta" but this game has been in developement for 2 YEARS. Unless you had to learn how to make a game in that time, which says that Tiy got a bunch of people who didn't know how to code, we got a really content lacking game, which repeats itself in each different planet.
