Ore's Leaked!

It was just the image. Other than that, it's not like I'm a treasure chest of secret information. I know just as much as you guys now that the image is out. It's an old image too. I'm sure it's been updated/changed since then. Nothing else I've said is anything sensitive, or secretive.

 

It doesn't matter if it is only 1 ppb of naturally found uranium it's still naturally found and that means that it's fully possible that other planets might have a higher concentration since it has been found on meteoroids as well. This would make it easy to explain how entire planets in Starbound would be irradiated and would need that radiation suit. Both the suit and the irradiated planets have been confirmed, although it could change as nothing is set in stone yet.

EDIT: In reality there was even a planet that was found to be almost entirely made of diamond so don't talk as if that's not possible with plutonium lol

becouse if it wasnt real they would say its fake

The big problem in Terraria was when the ores were still in the ground. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was about to mine silver and got iron or thought I was about to mine gold and got copper (looks the same with spelunker potion active). Being able to hover over unharvested ore blocks to tell what they are would be great. Seems fairly easy to implement as well. I just hope that it doesn't require the character to use a special tool as that would require a lot of swapping.

 

You're right, a special tool for that would be silly. The point is to make it accessible, without letting it get in the way of being fun. Tiy's good at making things fun, so I'm sure he'll find an awesome way to fix the issue.

I dunno we have two "active" buttons from what the HUD looks like right? L and R (Which I am assuming is LMB, RM maybe there is a one-handed mining tool you can use, and have the checker in your off hand? Easy as a right-click, left click combo.

I'm indifferent really, though I'm not colorblind I am legally blind in one eye, and the vision in my other eye isn't that good so small differences in color go mostly unnoticed. ^_^; I do have a roommate who is colorblind so we'll see how he feels about it once the game is out.

While I realized leaked information is bad, this community is more often then not, responsible enough to understand the basic principles that it's not finished work. Most people don't judge to harshly on work that could change completely. (Those who do are ignorant in my opinion.) Though I will second the opinion for more ore types. ^_^

To be honest this talk of how it was bad to be leaked while technically true isn't that big a deal. Anyone who didn't see copper silver gold and even diamonds coming .. hasn't played anything remotely like this game ever. Devs already said there would be ten unique tiers of metals aside from common. What little more this shows isn't that big deal.

What is odd is how the sprite sheet is laid out. It seems to be laid out in a pattern in my view (common, fuel, metals, (rare?) With space under common and fuels for more. So we maybe getting a few more common planetary ores, hopefully.

 

I'm just happy to see some stuff from the game, it's allowing my hype to cool the f**k down so I can actually do other things.

 

Its nice seeing that there are going to be ores, just adds something else you can do in the game...mining

 

Well this thread is quite interesting. I did read everything, but just to be safe - this is legit and now, oh, well, it's out and that's fine? The basic designs for bars (copper, for instance) were already in the first screenshots of the game, like the Superman screenshots in the desert with Furious George, and stuff like that, so yeah.

Also, Rainbow Rock kinda sounds like Ragnarok to me. Huh.

It's always been confirmed that there would be ores, so there should have been no worry that there wouldn't be.

 

Read back a few pages, it's pretty much been confirmed.
