Ore's Leaked!

Plutonium 244 is actually found naturally unless you can find some other reason it was found on the moon. And with a half-life of 80million years I doubt it will be going anywhere anytime soon.

He's a long time member and and generally has a good reputation.
In addition he's been talking about his colorblindness long before this leak.
He posted this on the official forums of the game, risking a ban on his real account (and possibly even his pre-order) for talking about NDA stuff (or lying that he knows about the game, if you chose to not to believe him) as opposed to posting anonymously or on a completely new smurf account.

Why would he lie and get banned on his real account instead of saying nothing?
That makes no sense at all.

As such I believe that it's logical to conclude that he's most likely telling the truth, even though it's always good to have some skepticism.
While it's dumb believe everything on the internet you also shouldn't dismiss everything just because you didn't receive pictorial proof and official statements.
Checking the post history is usually a good way to get an idea of who to believe on forums, much like looking at the karma of users on Reddit tends to give some general guidance.

I checked the resource. The word "moon" isn't even on the page. In fact, it specifically states that Plutonium is only obtained by a Uranium atom absorbing additional protons into the nucleus. LOL Same source.

 

Well this is a rather interesting yet old piece of news. I wonder what will deveolp from it.

 

This is were interesting part starts. First thing that comes to my mind - you need to build some device to smelt durasteel, before you would be allowed to craft from it. So basically, I think these bars are for crafting system and may be progress limitation to some extent here.

 

They are pretty nice But for a whole universe on a server i think there should be some more ores.

And we realy need Mollygonium and Bartwenite

I'm not sure if you're aware but people do senseless things all the time. Some people don't need a reason to lie and that is just the sad reality of life. The fact stands that he did lie and the exact reason remains unknown.

 

I never gave the image away to anyone, but I consulted someone about the image and he took it from me. I never just gave it out for the sake of giving it out. I was working with him on a solution.

And what I meant by "I guarantee I was not the source of the leak" was that I was not the one who posted it on 4chan. That's what I meant by "source".

Remember what Tiy was talking about in his AMA? He said that there will be ores common to all planets, and then tier-specific ore.

But I'm probably not in a good position to speculate on a picture I'm responsible for leaking

Actually it says so in the fourth sentence. Maybe next time you should actually read the material instead of doing a one word search. Even the study where I read about how they found Pu-244 on the moon used the term "lunar rock" so you wouldn't have had any luck there either with your ctrl+f. LOL indeed at your own ignorance.

 

Anyway on the topic of colorblindness...
The absolute best way to make things easily distinguishable is to give them different shapes.

Many of the ores on that picture use same shapes, and while recoloring old sprites is definitely faster than drawing new ones making every ore a different shape would make them distinguishable to just about anyone.
For example the iron ore could be square shaped and the diamonds could be shaped like the diamonds on playing cards.

The ingots could have periodic table markings on them. Fun AND educative!

I'll admit that I scanned the page (twice), but I only did the ctrl+f AFTER I couldn't find any sections about anything lunar or moon related. And I'm pretty sure it was Uranium that was found on the moon but I'm too lazy to look it up. I'll admit that I'm not an expert on Plutonium, but I've always known it to be manufactured.

Point is, I find it kinda out-of-place on the ore listing. The only interesting property of either one is radioactivity, and Plutonium is just straight up more radioactive than Uranium. It just seems like me like an unnecessary ore. I'd rather have another one named after the developers, and have the plutonium refinement process be part of using uranium in the atomic orbital bombardment stuff and other radioactive weapons. EDIT: Just like I said before, kinda like how Steel is just refined Iron.

 

You're right in the sense that shapes trump color when it comes to telling things apart, but in this case, with the amount of ore colors and shapes, there's only so many pixels, and it would take a long time for the artist to re-sprite everything, and it would still look quite ugly. It's a very inefficient solution.

A better, and currently favored solution, is a HUD feature that would help determine, with words, what ore you're looking at. It would require vision, but if you can see an ore, it would let you do something like hover over the ore, and it would show it's name. That way, no matter your colorblindness, you'd be able to know what ore it is if you can see it.

If the leaked image originated from you then yes that means that you were the source. If you promised Tiy you wouldn't tell anyone and you tell someone then yeah you lied. Are you now telling us that your friend stole the image from you? Steal as in s/he took it without your permission?

If you would like to continue being a [REDACTED] about it and drill it in, I really don't mind. I don't have to defend myself because I admitted I screwed up. Continue finding your pleasure in calling someone else's screw up, yes. Have at it.

 

Yes you screwed up, and I don't feel the need to punish you for it. Tiy and the developers will do that if they feel the need. However I don't understand why you are compounding the problem by talking further about it and releasing more information that wasn't previously leaked and you probably haven't been authorized to release.
