Since @CovisGod asked how people are able to just start again and I wanted to show my progress on my orchard run, I created this thread. I followed @ShneekeyTheLost guide or build order for the first spring but deviated after 21th of spring when I mined more in order to get more sprinklers. At the moment I arrived at year 2 and my farm changed a lot. If everything happens according to my inner plan, the farm will consist only of sheds and fruit trees by year 3. In my current sheds are 60 kegs, 60 jars and one shed is still empty. But the last one will change shortly into another jar shed because of the many cherries that are coming in each day. My greenhouse has 72 strawberries, 24 flowers and 6 ancient seed tiles. I built a barn but I sold all animals and destroyed all animal buildings after I got everything I needed for the greenhouse. I try completing the community center with the random help of the travelling merchant which is also my only source for fish in that regard. CovisGod's thread http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/how-do-people-just-start-again.130041/ My answer to the question is the same as other people already mentioned: to have a fresh start with new opportunities or to make a vision come true. ShneekyTheLost's Guide http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/a-powergamers-build-order-for-your-first-spring.129254/ Thanks again for the awesome guide! It sure helped to have a fast start. Cupcake Farm on 8th of Summer Year 1 http://upload.farm/1CyxdA Cupcake Farm on 3rd of Spring Year 2 http://www.upload.farm/1CBqkZ The saplings in the west are 5 orange and 30 peach trees. In the south are 45 cherry and 5 apricot trees. The upload.farm links give more information and statistics. If anyone still wonders how to take a picture of your whole farm that website is the place to go. You need your savegames which are in your Stardew Valley folder which is in your appdata folder. If you don't know how to get there, look into this thread under General Info: http://community.playstarbound.com/...-guide-for-solving-some-common-issues.110762/
And here is a little something for all people who ask themselves how much Haley could possibly change. This dialogue happened after I proposed to her:
Dawww. That's adorable, Haley. Naive, but, adorable. I picture her trying to plant buttered corn on the cob while saying, 'I'ma farmer now toooo!'
For some reason, whenever I think of Haley on a farm, the image of Daisy Mae from the vintage comic strip Lil' Abner comes to mind. Not a perfect match by any means, but close enough.
Really? Because I always get a Lisa Douglas from Green Acres vibe from her. She tries, honestly. But her hotcake recipe can be used for making head gaskets for a tractor or mortar for a brick wall, she thinks mending socks is something done with a stapler, and for goodness sakes, don't ask her to try to feed the hogs... You'll be tickled to know that I did much the same thing in my Season 2 LP of Stardew Valley. In fact, I manage to make it down to gold level on the 25th (tomorrow's episode) of Spring of the first year. I don't get quite as many sprinklers out before the end of the month as I'd hoped (I record in advance so I have a buffer from which to draw should life inevitably occur), but more than I usually do. In fact, I may have to revise my guide to reflect this. I will have to try and see if I can make mining a greater priority in starts consistently so I can give some benchmarks to shoot for. Having said that, I got stupidly lucky and managed to get from 45 all the way down to 65 in one day before upgrading my pick to copper. There were many levels where the stairs were... just there. That is stupidly incredible luck which I simply cannot expect anyone to count on. So I am going to start a new save and see if I can manage a second week copper pick and do a more reasonable five-level-a-day dive over the next week to get there by the third week and have a whole week to mine gold in. It would certainly mean no spring seeds, but I suppose if one goes with the forest plot, that is recoverable once you have a copper axe.
Each to their own, of course, but in this case it's a matter of accent and figure. Haley is etymologically closer to Daisy Mae, even if they're not an extremely close match. As for their respective figures, well...I am; too good a neighbor and too circumspect to speak to that. Some things just aren't up for discussion. I'm sure as a man of the world you know exactly what I mean.
Glad I could contribute a little. 20 floors in one day sure is lucky. I once cleared 15 floors in one day and called it a good day.
Update-Time! I wanted to give an update on the ongoing progress of my orchard run. At first you will see a picture of the 5th of summer and 12th of fall after that. As you may notice it is mainly straight lines and clear quarters for each season and that's not my definition of beauty. So in the coming winter I will chop down every tree and plant everything again. It will be a lot of work, but I guess it will be worth it. Financially I already have 550k on my bank account so at the end of fall I will have enough money to see it through. Does anyone know if I can move my sheds around with the kegs and jars inside? That would be nice. I got 180 kegs and 180 jars. In the cellar are 100 casks which are repeatedly filled with mead until I have enough ancient fruits for a whole batch of wine. Honey from flowers is of course sold directly but at the beginning of each season the flowers take time to grow, so I have enough wild honey to produce enough mead for the casks. http://www.upload.farm/1CCI65 http://upload.farm/1CHpQR Edit: The two upload.farm links seem not working anymore. I could restore one link because I still had the savegame.
Sheds get moved along with their content, yes. Nothing spills or tips over, no. Robin must have a magic crane, yes. Farm looks nice and neat by the way, yes.
This will be my final update of the farm, because I view it as finished. Some facts: - I cut down every tree and replanted everything during winter - there should be at least 80 trees for every season - the trees are still firmly organised, but I like it this way - during every month and year I made double or triple the money I ever made before. (Thanks to the guide from ShneekytheLost) - immediately after grandpa's visit I divorced Haley and married Abigail within a week. More on that topic will be in a post below. - if you look at the top left corner, there are two peach trees that grew right next to the border of the map. So I guess sometimes fruit tree grow with something next to them. From the 13th Spring Year 3 http://upload.farm/1CHpUY
So about the marriage life of my farmer: At the Feast of the Winter Star my farmer got Haley, his wife, as the gift giver for himself: The gift was kind of sweet, because there was a day during fall, where he needed some Speed-Gro and Pierre had his shop closed. Maybe the Joja route has it's drawbacks. But, because my farmers were married to Haley during so many reallife hours and some playthroughs, I needed a change. Furthermore I wanted to try out the Dark Shrine of Memories: After that was done, she left the house the next day taking her whole room with her. Quite impressive. Of course she wanted nothing to do with my farmer, so he went for the witch hut. The results were kind of scary. After erasing the memory of his former spouse, Haley said the following before acting like she met him for the first time. As it turns out, you can have 9 hearts with a single without giving them the Bouquet. On top of that the day after the divorce was a rainy day. After my farmer gave Abigail a gold star pumpkin, she was willing to marry on the same day. The two married without ever having a 10 star event. Abigail sure sounded 'motivated':
I'm a pretty casual player, and haven't looked much into optimized layouts. That said, I really like your quality sprinkler/scarecrow layout in the first pic. I never thought to put a path around the scarecrow like that, but it does make for a more elegant looking design than what I've been doing. Thanks for the much needed clue!
