Is there a link where these "really easy changes" are explained? I'd definitely give "all tiers mixed together" a shot just for the sake of testing this alternative instead of sitting here discussing it. In a single sector system like that there would need to be a new way to distribute crafting blueprints to players since killing bosses not only gives you access to a new sector but also a new tier of crafting blueprints.

Assets>celestial.config(not in the celestial folder) find where it lists the alpha sector and it shows the levels. Says something around 1,1 change it to 1, 10. After that it lists the biomes type simply add in or copy from the x sector ect.

Thanks. I might give this a shot. It would definitely be a new experience, fighting bosses for armor and features instead of access to new sectors. Only problem is that the only thing preventing me from jumping into a level 10 planet and grabbing an end-game weapon and speedrunning my way through the game is me.

I'd like it if they give this idea a try as well. I think it'd work in the same way that big MMO's reward skill and teamwork by giving access to higher tier stuff to those who make coordinated efforts or have high individual *gasp* skill; As it is right now it may not work because people can cheese way too easily, but once the game is more polished and some QOL changes are implemented it could be interesting.

Right now bosses feel like a bit of a chore to me just so i can craft my next tier of weapons/armor and they're hard to balance for everyone in terms of "Are you ready for this?" or what's worse "Too easy *sadface*".
By not pidgeonholing us into killing bosses before opening the next level of goodies you could even afford to make them a force to be reckoned with, encounters which we will remember not only for how hard they are, but because they had interesting mechanics that made us think and actually try, then they could link some flavour or even legendary items to said bosses with an RNG element, which is plausible already because you can summon them over and over with the right items.

I don't want to sound like i'm trying to turn this into Guild Wars but imo they're good ideas which could be easily implemented without changing the game at all.

On a lulsy note: Forum mod, i think constructive criticism or a well articulated private message explaining the why's goes a longer way than just poking the user with a witty sentence.

I think I would prefer if players gave the "single sector" idea a chance on their own (with a modded celestial.config) before pushing the devs to implement it that way they can actually give it a shot instead of dreaming it up as some great solution and then being disappointed when it happens and isn't so great. Right now there's a number of issues like:

1.My choices on planets to land on is severely reduced because most of the planets on a star system are above my level. In the star systems I've searched there has been at most 3 planets (this was a particularly large star system) in the 1-2 level range. It's frustrating only being able to explore 1-3 planets in a system and then having to ignore the other 20. Also, it wastes fuel because I have to spend 200 fuel to go to a new star since I can usually only explore 1 planet per star.
2.If I do decide to land on a level 10 planet, for example, when I find a level 10 weapon I'm set for the rest of the game. All craftable weapons and weapon drops on every tier from 1 to 9 suddenly became completely irrelevant because I just went to the level 10 planet right next to my starting planet and dodged monsters until I found a chest. I broke progression and beat the game in 5 minutes. Yay me.
3.Except for finding overpowered weapons, there's no reason to go to challenge myself on a high-tier planet. I can't craft anything with the ores from those planets until I unlock the blueprints for those tiers. At most I can go from tier 1 I can go to tier 2 so that rare ores are slightly more common at the cost of monsters being a great deal more annoying and powerful.

So far my opinion is that the current sector system, while it does impose artificial barriers, is better for the game because it keeps all the planets of a certain tier together so that I can easily find and explore planets of my tier, and it keeps progression going at a steady pace because I can't jump to tier 10 and grab an end-game weapon in 5 minutes. The way you move forward to a new tier might need a little work, some variety needs to be added so it's not "kill boss, next tier, repeat". I'm assuming this variety is planned for the future when we have a full story to play through.

I find it difficult to find copper, and that with the removal of difficulty scaled planets that it is incredibly difficult at first, whereas before the game had a more gradual difficulty curve.

My mate thinks when and if they add diplomacy, reputation with settlements and factions, add wars between factions, pretty much create a living and breathing universe with an economy and all that stuff, there will be plenty of reason to back and forth between places and explore new places to wage new wars and make new enemies

I don't know if it's been brought up. But I feel like the bosses are waaaaaaay too easy in this patch. UFO boss was fairly easy, and the robot seems to have been nerfed to hell. I remember before it would hit me for almost all of my health, this time I could just stand toe to toe with it and just use a bandage or two every now and then. I've yet to do the dragon boss yet however, so hopefully he's not a total pushover as well.

Dragon boss is quite tough, unless you Arena him
make a VERY large, flat area, and use Energy Dash to shoot over the groundfires.
pelt him with bullets until he goes down. It's the fourth boss that's hell, 2 shotting everywhere

So he's still a challenge then? That's good to know.

Not too bad if you prepare, but the same could be said of every boss of every game.

Truth be told I'm liking the ore generation now the more I play. I've found finding little "rarer" ores in early sectors where they aren't needed is a nice touch, as it slightly prepares you (giving you a slight head start) for the next sector.

However though, I wish that there were just a few, only a few more alternatives to using coal to fuel your ship. Perhaps implementing some oil pockets and buckets and barrels will help?
Also, I hate how I need pixels to make stuff, its just silly that money is the tape and glue of Starbound.

    Read also: Uranium, Plutonium, Solarium.

You will not come across those until Sector Xu, but they are far more Coal-efficient.

I primarily wish for there to be more alternatives to coal for early game.

    Burn wood, deforest planets.

    1 coal per 10 wood isn't fun.
Sucking the liquefied corpses from creatures millions of years ago (oil)? Fun.

Well I'd have to do something like the oil is being sucked dry.
