OpenGL is Better?

I couldn't find a thread stating whether OpenGL is better or not, so I apologize if you find one, and if you do, please post link so I can take a look. But what's better for the game? OpenGL or the normal version? What's different between both of them?

 

I think it depends on your system. On my laptop, for instance, OpenGL runs more smoothly. But some people have been reporting better performance with DirectX. I'd say just try both and use whichever works best for you.

 

You MAY have better performance if you use OpenGL. It depends.

Assuming the first button is DX9, OpenGL is newer and generally better.

I'm not sure if it's still this way but back in the days 3dfx/nvidia had the better DirectX support while ATI/AMD had the better OpenGL support.

 

you actually have that backwards. nvidia notoriously has always been better with opengl implementation than ati. ask any linux user

 

If you have an Nvidia card, you're better off with the OpenGL version. Since Microsoft still hasn't forgiven them for their past shenanigans.

 

Ati Radeon user here, and OpenGL work way better for me than normal launcher.

 

It all depends on your os and video card.

 

I use a NVIDIA GTX 680 card and when I use OpenGL I get worse FPS than I do using the normal version. Not terrible but I can notice a slight stutter.

 

I have not done extensive testing, but I "feel" like it's better on OpenGL. But my machine is not anywhere near borderline, runs fine on either. GTX card here as well.
