Only one thing is making me nervous...

Well two. I'm super excited to get to play beta tomorrow. but what if so many people are downloading it at the same time that the servers get backed up and slow to a crawl? and on top of that. I'm nervous of just not getting the email with the code.

 

Umm... the first part will probably happen, as Chucklefish is hyping the game to no end right now (hopefully we won't have another Bioshock Infinite case (OMG BEST GAME EVAR AND IF YOU DISAGREE YOU SUCK))

 

I'm sure I'm just needlessly worrying about it. I have my email linked to HumbleBundle with the purchase on there so I'm just worried it won't get sent to me or something. And I'm worried about the steam servers because they crapped out from the Portal 2 release. and there are a LOT of people waiting for the moment Starbound releases as well.

 

No honestly steam servers are built for this kind of thing. They release hyped up games all the time things like Call of Duty and such. But they rarely ever go down.

 

Steam has handled much more than this.

 

Lost connection to Steam, will rejoin chat automatically when connection regained.

 

I wouldn't worry about it honestly.
Starbound is a very hyped game, but we also have to remember that Portal 2 was even more hyped. Starbound is still relatively unknown in comparison to other titles Steam has released.

Steam can handle it, but make sure you set your download server to a city NEAR you, steam recently updated Canada servers, so theres a bunch more, one server is SO close to me thanks Steam and now downloads go much faster!

 

Thats your internet loss, either your internet restarted and you lost connection for a second and it re connected, or your internet can handle it and cut you off for a bit.

Ive never had that happen unless my internet dies xD

 

As I said in the last thread about this, steam handles over 20 petabytes of data a week. Strabound's release won't blip their radar.

 

Humble's handling sending the Steam keys out, and Steam's handling the game downloads. Both are pretty good with handling loads of people, so you shouldn't need to worry.
