I would be much harder to make a lot of these changes later. Rushing a game to completion is never the best option. Sure, everyone may complain and be impatient, but that doesn't mean it will actually produce good results. Even AAA games can visibly suffer from a rushed development. The opposite is also a problem, where a game is in development for years and comes out a mess, but that is its own problem and those games will be a mess no matter what. People should be happy that chucklefish takes the time to do it right.

To be fair, those are likely two different groups of people. But Chucklefish still has to deal with them both, so they might as well be the same group to them.

The "in development for years" deal is never a result of a single developer, though. When a game is released as a pile of Po's after development hell, it's usually after many dev teams get in on it. Look at DN:F for instance. Over a decade of switching teams and hands gave us that steampile.
By this, I mean that as long as Chucklefish's primary team stays on the project, there won't be any problems.

I don't know what you are talking about. I have at least double the hours I have in starbound than Terraria, and I go on starbound's forum every day! Only a good game with great potential would make someone do that.

    Tiy my dear friend
it has been over 3 years since the promises about starbound were made
countless delays on beta release date
but as the biggest fan that checks starbound forum every day for past 3 years
    i can honestly say
    you disappoint
please at least remember some of these promises:

NPC's will have needs, and offer you quests, some quests will always be difficult as the highest world danger level will always be tough to the most well geared players.
No limit to npc/crew size, but space ship has limited space, so you'll have to move people to planet bases too.
Some NPC's will be rescuable. And some will literally need to be carried back to your base/station.
NPC's will be able to be evicted in an, at this moment, unspecified way.
Most Quests will also be procedurally generated.
As of right now, Quests are assigned to whole parties, and rewards are given per player.
When you talk to an NPC, you may hear them speak with a "Sims-like" made up language.
The Dev team is toying with the idea of "monster breeding" where the resulting monster will have a mix of the parents' attributes.
Monster randomization "intelligently" puts arms/legs/chest/heads together, colours it, decides to give it wings or not, and then gives it unique behaviour.
There will be a main plot quest-line with its own lore and narrative

and thats just npcs and quests
i havent mentioned so much more promised like
wiring system, and an in game editor that will allow for custom created missions to have your friends play
A player owned UFO that will allow large scale terrain manipulation/terraforming
Round planets have a super-heated core at the centre that could melt the player. But not all planets will have molten at their core, some may have other impassible barriers.
Acid rain has been mentioned, which may actually eat away at player constructions during certain quests to protect an injured npc.
It has been stated by Tiy that it will not only be planets you will visit. There will be explorable "man" made constructions found off planet's (space stations, derelict ships. etc.)
Planet based random events will occur. Eventually, post release there will be the possibility of planetary system, galaxy or universe wide events.
Some worlds will have pregenerated story elements, which have been hand crafted with game-play in mind.

    Lots of cats.

i could name and name but what i am sayng is
we dont need more guns and more random generated monsters
add more different content and finish up what you promised
    like endgame bosses and tools

in this update only tool you have added are VINES

  9. Let's not confuse intended features for promises, or mistake not identifying current systems as reiterations of some of those intended features.

And above all -- let's keep this thread from turning into a "WHERE ARE PROMISES CF?!" thread

Also, where did you get this list of features?

This isn't the last update starbound will have. Chucklefish has stated that they have the resources and people to continue developing new features and content to Starbound even after 1.0 is reached.

I can already see a lot of the groundwork laid out for stuff like derelicts and city planets where the player might not be able to matter manipulate everything off the shelves, but take part in other activities located there.

    How to mod, though. @_@

I don't understand why the haters think moaning and whining will change anything, they should have known the risks involved in crowdfunding and early access. oh well, their loss.

Keep it up Starbound devs, thanks for a year full of fun! Hope for many more like this last one

The list of updates looks like all I've ever wanted in the game. I hope that within a months time or so I will see everything pushed to stable. Keep striving forward! I have wanted these features for so long. I really want to play a bug-free update soon, and releasing it during the holidays would give me plenty of time to explore :)
