One flaw, in my opinion, starbound has.

I posted something a few weeks ago:

"Your idea would be perfect if you would add another trait: Behavior

    For example:

Agressive: Will attack player and / or other creatures on sight. %chance to flee when below a certain amount of HP.

Passive / agressive : Uses hit-and-run tactics against enemy. Attacks, then flees to a safe distance. May follow the player on long distances, always keeping a safe distance, and attacking a few times until HP is too low.

Ambush: Available only to flying or 'tunnelling' creatures. Mob can spawn over a block of ground (ex: dirt), -- with a small animation) right in front or at the back of the player. As for flying mobs, they span high in the sky and dive on the player.
This could work also on pseudo-natural-items, such as carnivorous plants (camouflaged as regular plants).

Beserk: Will attack the player/creature no matter how low its own HP is. (this is what we usually see in most games).

Pack: Will attack with a pack of identical creatures. The pack can flee if the pack amount is too low. Each creature within the pack has its own behaviour too (ex: flee, hit-and-run, etc.)

Reinforcement: Will attack player, but if hit, will "summon" a pack of identical creatures to the rescue (they spawn off-screen if the terrain permits it, otherwise "summon" fails).

Coward: Creature attacks player but will flee as soon as it gets hit.

Prey: Creature does not attack at all, and will flee as soon as the player gets close.

Dumb prey: Creature does not attack at all, and will flee only if shots are fired or weapon is swung near it (or on it)."

The artists clearly got inspiration from Pokemons, there is not doubt:

    - Pikachu lightning tail
    - Bulbazar (spelling?) back Pod
    - Charizard evil eyes
    - Fluffy multi-tail from another Pokemon (can't find the name)

Also, some animations are not good. Jumping for instance. The creatures jump, while staying fully horizontal.

A jumping quadruped would jump approximately like this (yes, even alien quadrupeds, I'm pretty sure):

Thanks for the feedback. I still fid the eyes better like mine than the cartoonish-pokemonesque ones in-game.
Although only half of them got the cartoony eyes, the other half has eyes like I did. I'm pretty sure that 2 different artists drew the monster parts.
The styles are way too different:

Style 1 (probably the head I dislike the most)

Style 2 (much better shading, better eyes, more credible)

As for the palette, it is only a tiny example of what the colour combinations could be.
It would only prevent bright fuscia-blue monsters from appearing in Jungles and Pinky-purple monsters from appearing in Snow biomes.

    Good conversation, thanks.

Yeah, that sounds good. But what about simple completely passive creatures? I'd like to see those too :). Thanks for the fedabck everyone BTW ^^

This is not a case of they look weird, it is that there could be lush green plant monsters on a snow planet. Even though it's a alien it still doesn't make sense.

These 2 behaviours would work well.

Take rabbits for example (the passive creatures you are talking about). They would fit in the Prey Behavior.
Pigeons would fit in the Dumb Prey behavior.

Hunting them would be fun in my opinion. Actually, those passive critters should be the ones that drop many meat.
Since most of them could be small, they would be harder to hit with a bow, adding some challenge to hunting.

    Ex:
Predators: 20% chance to drop meat
Preys: 75% chance to drop meat
