Personally, I'd give it a 4. What do you guys think though? I know it's a beta, but still, let's rate it!

Edit: This is for spirited Giraffe not pleased Giraffe. Pleased Giraffe was a good update.

0/10 they removed hunger - IGN

I don't see too many major flaws with it so I'd say about 7/10. It has room for being better.

More stuff to do on planets (dungeon tweaks will likely fix this), having hunger and stuff back (already said they'd bring this back), and having towns/dungeons for all the races (especially Novakids and Hyotle since I don't think they have anything put in yet) are the things I want most and I already know they're all being worked on already!

Got what I expected from the state of the game.

i'm 100% certain he was being sarcastic because of the " - IGN" part
Hunger was a shitty mechanic before, and it's good they removed it so they can work on it instead of leaving an incomplete and tedious "feature" in - it was literally just a timer you reset every so often with an item. That's it. There was no depth to it at all, it was just bleh and unfun. And, as it has been stated many times...they plan on re-implementing it so it's not bad! Don't look back and go "hunger was so great" because
    it wasn't
it was a terribly implemented hunger system which offered nothing good whatsoever.

Says you! Some of the population really liked hunger though, so I think it was a pretty bad move on CF's part. They should have just made it an option (this is a sandbox. We should have options and choices.) instead of just deleting the whole thing for everyone.

Sure, people like you are happy about it, but the other people...not so much. Have some empathy

Most of the playerbase was unhappy with it, honestly. The only reason it seems like that's not true is because people have been livid it's gone whereas the people who are glad it's gone don't really feel much need to talk about it.

I honestly felt as if the hunger system the way it was in place was more of an annoyance than actually fun in any way. I have no problem with a hunger system as long as it is tweaked and enhanced to work better at a later time, or put as an option.

As it initially was, however, it just felt like a needless hassle in that it decreased too quickly.

I can confirm I was being sarcastic. I couldn't care less about hunger; it didn't add much to the experience in its original form. I wish CF the best of luck finding a way to make it meaningful, but I'm happy with it being an optional mechanic I can put aside to focus on the real meat of the game, like exploration and building.

Personally, I'd like to see hunger back, but real deal breaker for me was removal of the temperature. That small thing added sto much atmosphere to the game! At least for me :). Hope the'll really bring it back in some upgraded, if only optional, form.

Back to the topic, I think game is OK now, but definitely a lot must be still done for it to feel more complete and rewarding. Good it's intensively worked on :). Ah, it's an old topic, but I'd love to see more biomes/minibiomes per planet... :p

General unrest on the forums and in the playerbase before you ever played Starbound. Which, coincidentally, was before a very vocal minority decided to complain about it.

Of course, don't believe seasoned veterans who've played Starbound far longer than you have. Old YouTube videos is where it's at.

Because I've talked about this topic to death on the forums. People either don't care or thought it was annoying/useless. Would I personally like to see an improved version? Hell yeah, that'd be sweet. Would I like to see the old hunger mechanic in the game? Absolutely not.

I'm gonna say the temperature mechanic was just as crude and pointless as hunger. It was a one-way "too cold" that, like hunger, didn't affect a damn thing until it hit "deadly" level, where it killed you in seconds. It was a staggering point that basically made you wait out the night at a fire or something instead of actually get shit done, and given how slow the nights are, boooooriiiiiiiinnnnng.

The only reason it was less obnoxious than hunger was that it didn't take long to completely turn it off simply buy equipping normal, everyday ore-armor of a high enough level. (I don't remember what level, as I skipped like at least four tiers and jumped right to Impervium armor within a day of puttering around Sector X.)

I'm glad it's gone, and unless CF REALLY revamps it bigtime, it needs to stay gone.

IGN would only give it a 0/10 if the game was a horribly buggy mess that couldn't even be played, a la Big Rigs.
