He also mentions that he doesn't know if ship upgrades will make it in the update, and most of it is backward compatibility.
I hope there are some additions that haven't been mentioned yet, it would be nice to have a few surprises . I also read somewhere that some minor performance upgrades are making their way into the patch, less load on traveling between planets etc. but can't remember the source.

I've been working on my ship mod, but until I can sprite some exterior pieces I'm at a wall and I must have created 2 dozen characters in the past couple of weeks just to check out starter planets lol. I think once backwards character and ship compatibility is up everyone will go back to playing regularly and people can get back to the grind.

How is everyone else coping with the wait? What are your plans post wipe? I know I will progress each race up legit to top tier armor, then trade it between my characters .

 

Become slightly annoyed that I didn't try to reach the upper tiers before the upcoming wipe, then attempt to do so after.

Thanks for the info! That *IS* a huge update. I don't know why so many people are so overjoyed about superfluous patches to "performance" though. I mean, really. Who needs frame-rate when they can have:

OK, I might not be serious there. Though truthfully, some of my hoped-for fixes are small ones. I love building machines and "automated houses," so the wiring fix is a really big deal for me. I'm also under the impression that we may be able to set our spawn point in this version. That would be big

Past that, the things I'm really waiting for probably won't come in this patch. I'm very interested in the change to the progression tier system. I remember reading something by Tiy that said the current system is nothing but a placeholder, and I'm glad for that. I don't like the current boss-based building progression and am curious to see how they modify it. I'm also very curious to see what they can do to make quests an integral part of the game story, and am under the impression that it is an important future addition.

To while away the time, I've made lots of starter characters to test out people's mods

Awesome! It's almost time for my Floran spearwielder. Hopefully, Chucklefish doesn't feel rushed to get this out, and maintains the stability they've delivered so far. And, maybe throw them some pizza to go with the bread and water.

To cope, I made my Avian "Sunpuncher" to try out different outfits and also see what I can find by living only in the Beta sector. It's a good thing she's separate from my Floran "Wingdinger," who remains trapped in the Alpha sector. No reason to rush to endgame with them, so instead I'm doing a lot of exploration in the early sectors, to see what gameplay is like for people that don't want to burn through the sectors!

Hopefully we actually get complete patch notes. Just kidding, I know they won't manage something so elaborate as that.

Kinda surprised they took 3 weeks for so little actual content, just to push out a change that should have been in the base game's code before it ever went public. Either way I hope they finish it soon so I can actually play again, haven't been bothering with the always-impending-but-never-occurring wipe on the horizon.

 

@OobleckTheGreen I'm pretty sure i heard somewhere that there are several bosses left to add and that the tiers will be story driven once everything is said and done. Makes me happy cause anything with story is just so neat to go through. =D

 

It didn't take them 3 weeks. They stated they took a couple weeks off to enjoy their vacation. If you accomplished so much and made so much money for your hard work, I'm sure you would want a special holiday season as well.

i'm coping terribly. i seriously want to play, but i can't bring myself to waste my time on the game until the update hits.

finally create my permanent characters, and then truly experience the game.
