Is that the final form lava is going to take? I hate to say it, but it looks, well, bad. It might look better when animated (please tell me it's animated), but the tiling of the image is very obvious and jarring. Secondly, if you examine the curve details in the lava, you can see them stop in a sudden line; I guess this could be a scaling issue.

I'm assuming it'll look better with lighting effects enabled. The lighting is a huge part of what gives the underworld in its atmosphere in Terraria.

I'm pretty sure that, like Gene said, it's just an early development version :p

I've watched Bart's and Omni's streams and that's the SuperFishAxe and it's basically an admin/dev cheat tool. It breaks up LOTS of blocks with each swing. It allows them to travel through large areas of the maps quickly while testing the code.

I was watching some of Omni's stream last night, that was his character's name.

Zoom in the pic and look in the lower left, you'll see that he did set himself as Admin, which gives the dev's god mode powers!

Hi! Just so you know you can press "reply" on several comments and they will be quoted in your "Reply Window", that way you can avoid triple posting.

And on-topic: I think this is looking pretty cool, I don't know why I expected a "Hell" biome though...

No, they have no plans to implement heat. Ever. IIRC they think it would over-complicate the game and be not-fun. There was a whole thread on this.

I suspect that the SuperFishAxe will not be available to us mere mortals when the game is available. Oh, and not just the tallest trees but entire buildings fall with just a couple of swings of that fish, it's quite impressive to see :D

Those ores look very....floaty. not really embedded in the rock. the lava is sexy though

It is kinda sad that the heat will be diminished in fear compared to the cold. When you have extreme cold that you can die from, it would make sense to have extreme heat as well that you could dehydrate from to the point that you die, similarly to what a desert does, in a desert you'd need water to hydrate yourself otherwise you die from dehydration. It could work like the hunger bar, except instead of eating you would need to drink water to keep the bar up, or otherwise drinkable liquids.

Sure it would not be much fun having to drink water to stay alive opposed to setting a campfire if you think of it this way, but on desert planets there could still be some water laying around which you could use to create a fountain for example, or jump into a pool of water to cool down and possibly drink while you're in the water.

I think that it would feel a little lacking after a while when you've been trying to survive on a cold planet, and then you go to a desert planet and find that you are completely safe from the surrounding heat, that you no longer have to rely on anything concerning temperature to survive, I think that would cheapen the desert atmosphere in comparison to a cold planet.

The lack of heat related danger still disappoints me. I look forward to the first group that mods it in to match the cold system. The game wouldn't feel complete without it.

Aye, i figured it would be a part, with including other kind of dangers like poisonous atmosphere, frozen planets which extreme blizzard makes you need protection gear vs cold, and regular heat sources. but equally while not a heat bar that just appears ,but in certain bidomes heat danger sorta fits in, making it more proper.
