Omnipotententity stream of Oct 31 (lava!)

Omnipotententity did a Twitch stream today.

Among other things, it's the first time I saw a picture of lava deep in a planet's interior looks like:



My opinion: graphics look cool, but its probably an early development version because of the sharp transition and lack of biome features compared to the hell biomes of games like Minecraft or Terraria. Probably there'll be more to come eventually, but for now, that's what we have!

Also, first time I see that purple ore!

Just sharing with those who haven't seen it.

 

I see no heat meter.

I hope I can properly burn to a crisp, at least.

 

Pretty sure Omni used admin cheat for infinite health, which presumably turns off heat problems too.

 

Some men just want to watch the Starbounds burn.

You can burn to death by fire/lava, but you cannot die from too much heat, only when it's too cold.

 

Which I still say makes no sense. What about the threshold for spontaneous combustion? Or even boiling the blood in our veins?

Which... still doesn't make much sense. They implemented cold, and heat is just the opposite of cold.

 

Looks a little out of place...like its placed 'over' the world, not so much apart of it.

if this was the final look of the lowest part of the planet, I'd feel preeeeeeeetty cheaped. But they probably won't do that.

either way thanks for posting a screenshot. Most of the time the streams are really really boring and its hard to find anything of actual worth in it so I appreciate you showing us the good stuff

 

That pic looks like it was done without any lighting effects. There've been a few others like that, and with lighting it looks infinitely better. The lava looks nice though!

 

Omni REALLY loves that blue fish stick. Whenever I see him in the game he has it in his hand.

 

Heat doesn't exist in Starbound, only hard damage from fire and lava. Heat was considered "unfun" by most of the dev team (except Omni) because they couldn't think up of any ways to make it fun. All that's left is a skeleton of code.

At least Omni's going to help us mod heat back in when Starbound's released.

 

'Burned' seems a bit anticlimactic for the consequence of diving into 1200'C molten rock haha

 

Last I inquired about this, I was told there is no heat. For example, you can die by burning in lava, but you can't die by being near it without protective gear. Overheating is not a threat. Freezing to death, however, is.

 

hopefully that may change with beta feedback i'm sure a lot of people will be saying that its silly. but then you never know this is starbound .
