Wouldn't it be great if we could re-smelt old equipment and break it down into a percentage of it's old components? An example would be to put a copper breastplate into the smelter, or a new kind of "forge" to convert it into half of its ore and other metal based parts. Just a suggestion from a long time RPGer and a lover of crafting in general : D OR... break down said equipment into new components that cannot be naturally acquired in any other fashion in order to craft better/different kinds of equipment. Example being break down an iron item to get iron nails or ingots which could be used to create various iron items. Peace to all, and major props to the Starbound crew for bringing such a rich world of possibilities to life for gamers of all stripes.
I like the percent of the ore or ingot back however i would find it annoying to have to make a iron breast plate just for nails, good suggestion though
Yeah that would be annoying to have to do, especially if nails for example were required for some mainstream items, such as wall panelings etc... Good point and thanks
Usually those low end ores and such don't have much use once you move onto the next tier. They could just allow us to put them in the recycler for more pixels instead. Either way it's a shame to have to waste them like we do now.
Would be cool to have some sort of Desintegrator Console on your ship to break down those crappy and or old items. Good idea!
I like the idea. After all if you want pixels you just chuck the recycled material into the refinery and boom. Although I think a higher yield from the items wouldn't be out of the question. After all, as has been pointed out, that lower end ore reclaimed is pretty useless.
