I very much hate this and think it should be changed.

It wouldn't be so bad if they acted like a random celestial phenomenon. As it is now, they act more like an NPC with a grudge against me and powerful ammo to lob at me on a whim. Kind of like German artillery in WW1 or my mother in law.

Met my first meteor last night. I had converted a crystal laboratory dungeon into a base awhile ago and had been using it for storage. The meteor spawned inside the big central room you land in when first going down, which I had changed to have all my crafting areas and bedroom woth decorations. It destroyed the entire room

 

I had a dream last night that I was visiting my auntie in some weird snowy world with pink and green horses, and I was peeking out the window and just meteors starting raining down on the village down the hill, each one taking out an entire building. I think I've been reading this topic too much.

 

Guys, guys guys. I got it: anti-meteor defense turrets.

 

That actually is not a bad idea at all.

 

We really just need a method of determining the planets weather before we settle down on it.

Although I am absolutely in favor of anti-meteor defense turrets as a second option.

 

Yeah, if in the description of the planet on the ship it had a weather section. So we would know before even beaming down.

 

My condolences, frend. I've never had bad luck with meteors, myself. I met the first one when I dug a little hidey-hole in the ground to avoid monsters at night. Landed right next to where I dug, and the splash-damage missed me by like, one pixel. Had me totally stunned for a couple of minutes, 'cause I didn't read the changelogs.
I like the idea of anti-meteor turrets, though. That's sounds pretty neat'o rad.

 

well. I have now experienced my first two of these giant meteors. JUST finished building my first house and... let's just say it no longer has a back yard.

 

Look on the bright side! You have a beautiful crater now.
