Official Gamemodes Megathread

So we know that the PvP is a confirmed feature of Starbound, along with "PvP Asteroids".

Yea, that's good, BUT what gamemodes shall we expect?

Classic Team Deathmatch, epic Capture the Flag or maybe King of The Hill?
Or maybe we will get the almighty gamemodes from Terraria, like Capture the Gem or Defend the Fortress? (courtesy of Odyssey Games) In inter-planetary forms?

I have no idea how plausible it would be, but if it was in anyway possible I would LOVE for there to be some type of game mode which takes place on multiple planets at the same time - so you have to keep moving to different planets for whatever purpose.

I haven't thought of an appropriate game mode for it though..

 

Why not add a space flight game mode of sorts? Fly around and destroy your enemies. Simple and fun. If the game mode is completely seperate from the main game, there could be some rad customization somewhat like Custom Robo. Either the ability to collect ship parts from your fallen enemies, or gain currency for winning and spend that on parts.

 

Hide and Seeking Missles: One player hides on a planet while the other player searches for that player with a missle launcher, the person hiding cannot use weapons but can run away when caught. Prizes include money, but players are allowed to "bet" items with items of equal or similar value. Average match lasts about 8 minutes.

 

Zombie Apocalypse: Each player gets a certain amount of time to build a base. After that time period, there is an endless onslaught of zombies. Last one to die wins.

The zombies are interchangeable with any other monster ingame.

PVP huh... wouldn't it be about like terrarias? (like there is a set best weapons that every one uses)

 

King of the Hill or Conquest. Capture Points like in tf2 would be cool.

 

I'd love to see Capture the Planet, as well as a plague style game mode in which some people start as infected and they spread there plague around by killing others, if the plague is wiped out the healthy wins if the healthy are wiped out the plague wins.

 

Tower-Defense. It would involve background enemies that could not be harmed by the player, and background blocks that fire projectiles or provide buffs to other towers. You would either play the role of a hovering robot or use some item and your normal character.

 

Possibly make a whole entire game mode that focuses on capturing planets, clans, and factions? Like, you can use the space ships to traverse to a highly contested planet, only to battle it out with some fortified clan. That kinda would mean the larger the clan you have, the more you're going to win... but I dunno. And instead of NPCs coming to the planet and defending it for you (assuming you've captured the planet) you need people to stay there and defend it! here I go... ranting about the impossibilities. Seriously, I can tell that this game and it's mods are going to be EPIC!

 

Ah, reminds me of tons of conquering games... I would just choose a piece of land in the corner, and try to hide secretly.

 

There would definitely need to be an option to ensure everyone is wearing the same gear at the start. No point in PvP if you have wildly disparate armours.

UFO Mode(?): People act as though simple folk, minding their own business an then- WHOA, ALIENS INVADE, BARRICADE THE DOORS! Or... are they friendly? This would be nice for the people who like to RP. Or maybe a Mystery Murder Dinner Party? Oh, the possibilities...

Going Vice Versa for aliens, they invade the planet and do what they wish! I dunno, really, I don't...

Okay, Let's just make a game were people poop, and a janitor has to clean it up, this is clearly a GREAT way to make "FRIENDS".


We need to make Troll Games!

Make a disadvantage for one role specifically!
GET CREATIVE!

 

Adventure Mode: for example - you have to drink a green cocktail-mix from a shady bar to thicken your spit so you can win a spitting contest and sell the trophy to acquire.. yeah i think you know where this is going.
