I wish I was. I just hope not too many schoolteachers try to enforce this stupid thing. It could totally be worse, though.
Congrats, you've jinxed us all. Speaking of, looks like the UK's getting the NSA's dream bill - nearly all MPs who didn't oppose the new Snooper's Charter abstained. I mean, we're talking about a government that wants to ban all forms of encryption.
OK that is ridiculous But so is http://www.salon.com/2015/07/13/5_american_sex_norms_that_europeans_will_never_understand_partner/
As a Canadian, I'd think the clear disregard for your fourth amendment would've tipped people off sooner tbh For now it looks like they're going after minorities, specifically Muslimss. Good time to be a white dude.
Holy shit guys, I'm an extremist. Being critical of the American government is basically all I do all day. "Talking about travelling to places that sound suspicious" I forgot I'm not allowed to be interested in geography. ... Although I'm probably already on some list because I used to have regular contact with a guy who lives in Lebanon. Y'know, one of those "suspicious places."
That's how SKYNET works. It flags anyone who has been or is from "dangerous zones" and if it identifies you had contact with those individuals, it will also flag you.
Dammit, that means I might be flagged, too. That is, if they know who I am to be able to flag me. I'm not severing friendships just because of hollow threats from the FBI.
Skynet is NSA's targetting algorithm. It's in that article @kenmario posted here once. http://arstechnica.co.uk/security/2...-may-be-killing-thousands-of-innocent-people/
I think it's time to take a deep breath and ask yourselves why the FBI would care about some random people on a video game forum
They don't care about finding criminals, they care about controlling politically dissident people, and suppressing them. If they actually had altruistic intentions, they'd never have started all of this in the first place.
Speaking of, managed to host a debate in my school today on the 'should we give the government all our personal data slash breaking encryption slash bad shenanigans' subject. Was pretty good, especially when nearly everyone against me was arguing 'if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear'
If the government was as hellbent on suppressing dissent as you suggest, you would have been gone a long time ago. Don't mistake me, I'm not saying the government is 100% perfect. No government is. It's important to voice concerns about the government if you don't agree with some of their policies, but when you start throwing outlandish accusations like that, I can't help but be skeptical.
An organization can want something without being any good at achieving it, you know. You're starting to sound an awful lot like you're trying to downplay my concerns to prevent me from spreading anti-FBI/NSA ideas; do you actually support the FBI/NSA on this? How can an "accusation" be outlandish when they outright admit to it?
Let us all remind ourselves that we don't live in wonderland, shall we? In an ideal situation, yes. If you have done nothing wrong, there is no need to hide anything. But reality is not that simple. What is "right" or "wrong" can be very subjective. Being of any sexual orientation other than heterossexual is not a crime in and of itself. Unfortunately, one can be persecuted for it, thus they keep it a secret. Not everything one might wish to hide is a wrongdoing... So if for some reason someone sees fit to 'coerce' you into doing something, they would have reason to dig through your personal info. The reason why I am against backdoors and other means of espionage is that you can't trust the government to keep it to themselves. It is going to leak sooner or later and then many other shadier individuals will have your details on their hands.
