i like this idea except i dont want to have to be fake also bear grills should be a merchant you find while doing the show one of the things he sells should be a "survival lemonade"
It wouldn't be required. You'd start off with a 1:6 chance for this to trigger towards the beginning, and the chance grows as the popularity grows. There are many pluses of a scripted episode. They might be a little bit more bizarre or wacky, there's also the possibility of special NPCs and items with product placment, but you really don't have to do them, you just get to be sponsored by the Inter Galactic Weaponry Comity and be able to test out their new fancy Blazer Blade, which also comes with an extra pay boost for the day. If you just ignore it you can just film a normal episode, you just might be missing out on something fun.
Oh, I never played the Ratchet and Clank series, well at least my idea hasn't fully been done before, but now I know there is something similar.
So in multiplayer, could the show become a survival TV show and the last man standing in a scenario gets an award?
Hmm Interesting Idea, it would make it more of a challenge for the players if they have to verse someone, it could work if both players still got paid, but that would mean it would have to go into PvP, but it could work, and maybe instead of an awards a bigger cash prize.
Or perhaps a useless trophy? But if a player dies, they should stay dead for the rest of the episode maybe to make it interesting
Hmm, still thinking how the trophy/award thingy would fit in, seen as the show isn't really a competitive show (Except for ratings ) I don't see any need for a trophy, unless it was a special edition episode thing, say a milestone episode they hold a multiplayer competition episode then the winner can get a trophy.
I love this idea. My vote of approval to this genius idea! It kinda reminded me of how in pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald there was this camera crew that would travel around and challenge you to double battles, and after the battle they would ask for a single-word quote. The "summary" of the battle would then appear on ingame TV, where the reporter gives a brief description on how you did against them (like, if you beat them in one round etc.) and then the quote. My idea for this is: When a "shot" is done, the reporter dude asks you how you felt about this episode, but it has to be short and sweet. A message box appears, and you have a limited amount of symbols to use to describe your feelings. So you type in your feelings, and when the show airs, your quote appears at the end/is the title of the episode. (which would probably lead to some episodes being titled "butts" or other naughty things) But the quote appears in SOME way. Also, the objective thing could be like in Saints Row 2's escort missions (you drive around a ... lady-for-hire and her client) and the client often wants you to do stuff. It could work in a similar manner, the host sees a open field, why not make it into a forest? Plant some trees! The host doesn't like the way the <instert local creature> looks at him, kill it and all its friends! Something like that. Fulfilling many of those requests during a take would net you an increased share of the profit.
I forgot all about the camera crew -.- it has been some time since I played Pokemon. Either way I don't mind your first suggestion, but this part could also be done by adding comments to a video. But it would be good to have some more interaction between the nameless Host and the Player. My only problem with this is that there is no form of spam filter, Pokemon, and even Dark Souls, avoids the Text Box by having the player choose from lists of words. Starbound is meant to be a game for anyone, young or old, so the least they could do is have a Mature Language Filter for the text box. Your second idea is good too, It might make it a bit more comical to be playing then all of a sudden: Host: "That <Insert Creature Name Here> stole my Sandwich, Kill it and get my food back!"
Ha well I was more think about 'Man Versus Wild with Bear Grills' in the sense that the Cameraman who follows him around is not meant to help him whatsoever, and so must also carry his own food, or at least that is what I assume, so the host has food to help him survive, for at least half an hour.
Well for the sake for being able to do this side quest again, they are invincible and able to follow you wherever you go without getting in the way, pretty much in the background.
