Well I bet 90% of people will get dissapointed after the realese. This is just one of those games that gets to be heavily overyhyped. Many people are allready saying that Starbound is way better than Terraria without knowing nothing about it. I personally think that Starbound will be a good game but I will not be getting as much Fun from it as I did from Terraria because well.... That game is my top 1 game of all time nothing will stand between me and my Terraria!

And of course the random generation of all the things..... Well that will probobaly suck I haven't seen any game that did that well. Especially the monsters uhhh Reskins all the way.... Yay we gonna fight 1000s of the same monster. BUT IT WILL LOOK DIFFRENT YAY!

I fear that the story won't make any sense, or it will be a ripoff of a well-known sci fi show.
I've played games were I had to ignore the story, such as it was.

I'm part of your alleged 10% that will not be disappointed with Starbound.

I also personally believe you have no idea what you are talking about. You say you haven't seen a game that did random generation well. Yet you fail to realize that Terraria, your all time #1 game randomly generates it's world, and does it very well. That said, you discredited your entire post.

Also, blind fanboyism is pathetic. Terraria was a good game with a good concept, but the main flaw was that it runs out of stuff to do. Starbound corrects this. In it's current state, there's nothing that makes me want to return to Terraria, it had it's run and I enjoyed every minute of it, however it's time for something new.

Also, I follow everything regarding Starbound and this:
...is a boldfaced lie. There is tons of information available and I personally love every last bit of it.

Bottom line, Terraria and Starbound are both great games, there is zero reason to choose one or the other when you can play both. Be a gamer, not a fanboy.

Unless every creature has unique AI, how different are they really going to be? This is a problem Terraria faced. Random generation isn't going to keep boring enemies away. And plus, I think he meant to say that the random generation of enemies and guns may not be as great as everyone thinks so.

I honestly think he brings up an honest point. It's OK to be pumped up for this game, I am too! But it's not released yet, so we have to wait until it is to see how good the game actually is.

And I don't think he's the blind fanboy. He said that Terraria is HIS favorite game, and I kind of know how he feels. I have the same feeling with Morrowind, but that won't stop me from getting Starbound and enjoying it.

We do know quite a bit about Starbound though, so I'll give you that one.

I thought that the random generation was going to be a bit limited though?
I'm not sure, but I can't imagine Starbound making the critical error of having every single enemy combination available on one planet.
I think that every planet will have a set number of random-generations to fill its pool of monsters, and then add unique mobs to the dungeons, villages, etc.
The Random Generation won't be as boring then- you'll be able to see "okay, on the last planet my main melee-range concern was that 6 armed
velociraptor with the bladed tongue. On this planet- OHMYGODGIANTMILLIPEDESGEAWAYGETAWAYGETAWAY!

to be fair though, there is a chance that it might now work out that well. That's fine too. No Game is going to be picture perfect on launch, and the dev team has promised a year of dedicated support to polish and build as much as they can. I get the feeling that after launch they'll really start looking in the suggestions forum for things the community agrees would make Starbound a more enjoyable experience.

Still... if I really do see giant millipedes, I'm only building a base if it gets to be surrounded by at least 1000 blocks of lava and retractable bridges. Also, auto-turrets with giant rocket-launchers on them.

To address random generation of enemies and weapons:

This is true, however it's true for every game ever made, randomly generated or not. This is why random generation is good. Throughout your play of any game you will inevitably encounter every enemy, find it's weakness and effectively slay it. As you go further, the enemy becomes tired, boring, and being easily defeated thus becoming a roadblock in the overall experience. More so with repeated play-throughs.

With Starbound's random generation, sure the AI will be limited (all games suffer from this), but it grants a needed illusion of something new and fresh. The system will not be perfect, but it's a much needed change and a step in the right direction.

To address the rest of the post:

I honestly can't agree with your view of his point. Reading his post I see nothing more than the "Terraria doesn't have shit on my Minecraft" tired debate, repeated as Starbound VS Terraria.

I also can't agree with your view of him being a fanboy or not, to me his post screams blatant fanboyism.

I can agree that it's not good to over-hype a game before it's release.

The first time you decide to make a lava trash-bin and find out the problem with chucking an innocent Voodoo-Doll into it... thats the beauty of discovering things on your own.
