NVIDA FPS PROBLEMS ~ SO DESPERATE (5-15 FPS)

Hello, fellow NVIDA user here.,, I realize I am not the only one who has been having problems with my FPS in starbound so far. And I have tried the assortment of fixes that were found so far from the opengl name switch, to switching off threaded optimization(threaded optimization) and a few others. None of these have worked sadly and I almost can't stand it.
I was starting this to ask for any other tricks or at least certification they were trying to work on some sort of fix for video cards like mine.

My computer is good enough to run Battlefield 4 and other games on at least medium and still keep a solid 60. I even downloaded the game on one of my family members desktops that was a lower tier than mine and it ran like a dream... Please for the love of god fix it. IVE DREAMED OF PLAYING THIS GAME FOR 2 YEARS!!

    -Specs-
    NVIDA GeForce GT 430
AMD A6-3620 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 2.20 GHz
    8GB of RAM

I realize it's not the best but i'm more than sure I should be able to run this game!

Any help would be more than appreciated! Thank you!

Highly doubt you can run BF4 with a 430 on even minimum...

Anyway try updating to the newest nivida beta drivers through their website or Nivida Experience, me and my friends all run on windows8/8.1 on newest drivers and so far we didn't have any FPS issues, also you could try clearing out your system.

    From the tech support subforum:
    Low FPS on NVIDIA cards
If you're having low fps on Nvidia cards, try setting "multicore optimization" to no/off in the Nvidia control panel.

Have you tried the suggestion where you rename starbound.exe to something else (not really important what, it's just so it's not launching) and renaming starbound_opengl.exe to starbound.exe?

It's the only thing that had any effect for me, but it's a huge one - from 20-30 fps up to 50-60 on my Geforce 720m.

The only thing I'm worried about is whether the renaming can mess up patching, so I always rename them back again after I've finished a session.

    I'm having the same problem.
My NVIDIA is only a GeForce 220 but i can run terria with no lag, play league of legends with 60 fps on full settings, and play killing floor with no lag. I just don't understand why my fps is so low with starbound.

I try that tutorial with starbound_opengl.exe but it doesn't work and i don't have anything like "multicore optimization" in Nvidia panel,

Running SLI'd GTX 670's here, having the same issue. Low FPS.

Disabling Threaded Optimization helped a bit, but not much.

Also, I'm running the game at 2560x1440.

guys guys guys i was having the exact problem you all. I play games such as league perfectly fine with 60fps on high graphics but this game i was playing 25fps. I just tried these steps i saw on another forum post and im running 60 fps now :)
    THIS.

Just tried it out with the following steps:

    Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\win32\launcher
Right click on launcher.exe, go to properties.
    Click Compatibility tab
Uncheck everything here, and then place a check next to 'Run this program as an administrator'.
Click okay, then run the game through Steam. You'll get the admin prompt, but it'll run MUCH smoother.

Are you running Fullscreen? This made a big difference on my system, 460GTX, with mostly good FPS, it drops now and again during combat or in towns.

edit: forgot to mention that I also run the game as admin, just in case. I think I saw a thread elsewhere about people having issues running the game from within Program Files\, something to look into moving if you're having issues.

I've tired that, renaming the gl file, switching off multicore optimization, and even downloading razer game booster.~None have worked. fuk

FINALLY 30FPS! I reinstall all NVIDIA drivers and check 'Run this program as an administrator' on launcher.exe and starbound.exe. Thank you! <3

Guys the game is not properly optimized yet, it's a beta after all. They'll start coming out with patches soon, just have a little bit of patience.

I have a 670 and framerate drops a lot when I use the 2x zoom vs the regular 3x. Maybe a good workaround is to use 4x til the optimize everything.
