Whose to say you won't at times find under-developed planets and such? There are a lot of people saying things are not 'scientific' or 'robotic' enough to be put into the game.
If you think about it, plenty of planets may only be inhabited by animal-like creatures with little to no intelligence or technology. Plus it gives us a way to step back from the technological side of things, and just enjoy the simpler things in the game, not constantly worrying about energy levels or robots.

It'd be like going on vacation to a remote location where there is no cable television or cell phone reception!

  2. Yeah I've always assumed there would be untouched planets with just animals, etc. You put it better than I could have.

The 'not futuristic' enough stuff can be tiresome, but I don't really fault anyone for assuming that the game won't be all futuristic. Some see "SPACE!! ADVENTURE!!" and kind of think it will all be pewpewpew lasers and such.

I'm kind of thinking the whole part of lasers and shooting everything is really just what some people want so bad, that they don't see that there is more to the game in terms of weaponry. I mean sure, guns have been a major breakthrough in the past and are still prevalent today, but there are going to be and have been more breakthroughs than that.

I just hope they also let you place non-futuristic furniture to build non-futuristic houses on non-futuristic planets.

I agree! I'd love to take a vacation to a remote planet no one knows about! :D

I think the remote planets will be a great deal of fun to explore. I don't necessarily want technological genius NPC's under every rock tree and bush. I agree that it's awesome to feel like you're getting away from everything and go somewhere its just natural. <3

Not only do I like non-futureistic planets, I think we NEED them. Things would get old just being all about robots and stuff.

I think a health mix would probably be in order. Otherwise how would we get normal food and metal and such? Plus, there's no robot that can stand up to a plain old metal sword to the battery socket.

Id like if there was some mission where you go to a planet or something where your ship and technology is jammed.

That's actually... Not a bad idea. A whole planet where you couldn't use certain types of items.

I hope you can build ANY kind of Furniture on ANY planet...after you learn the recipe from the locals of course.

Because we all know that we need recipes for creating tables. Only a spoon full of screws.

You land on a planet and find yourself face to face with a hostile medieval army, charging at you with swords draw and shields raised. You lift your grenade launcher and BLAM! Put the fear of God into those savages!

Well, in terms of armor, futuristic would most always be better, since force shields and harder alloys start to come into play. But in terms of weapons, a medieval pistol kills something just as easily as a laser gun could if armor was not involved in the equation at all.

I don't remember seeing people discarding ideas cause its not futuristic, but yes, there should be under-developed NPC factions.
Perhaps being able to help them modernize their society, or have them thinking you're some kind of powerful being, like XNtr3k's thread on the NPC and Creatures Suggestion sub-forum.

Overall interaction with sentients creatures with low technologicals resources could be quite a fun addition to the gameplay.
I'm pretty sure there was also a cool thread on the Side Quest sub-forum with something on interaction with civilizations. Unfortunately, I do not remember who was the author nor the correct name of such thread.

Yes, I definitely agree with the armor and weapons. Any type of weapon would hurt a person or thing, otherwise I doubt it's a real weapon at all :wut:

What annoys me though is people saying that something wouldn't fit into the game because it's too simple.
One person even said a horse mount wouldn't make sense...

If you were to say, crash your spaceship on a planet, and had no vehicle. Im sure a Horse would be a welcome sight if you needed to get to the other side of the planet....you know unless you like walking.

The way I see it, if there's tons and tons of planets, it opens up an insane amount of variety. Not all planets are going to be filled with robots. There might be planets that had just formed and are filled with primitive species, or very highly advanced planets.

However, since we have threat levels, more primitive planets normally would have a lower threat level. But there could be some very dangerous beasts on certain primitive planets, meaning we could have high threat leveled, but primitive planets. We might also have technologically advanced planets with superior robotics...but they're generally a pacifistic species and haven't felt the need to develop weapons. So they'd have superior technology but a really low threat.

I guess what I'm saying is, the game is their sandbox. Maybe they'll have a dinosaur planet with a threat level of 100. Sure, our Omega Cannons should be able to obliterate their molecules, but this game shouldn't be restricted by too much realism. Not sure if the Devs want to make it an exclusively futuristic game. (Though I severely highly superly doubt they'd limit themselves.)

I want to see dinosaur/primitive planets. Maybe some species lack technology because they simply evolve to suit their needs.

This is a game about space and exploration. Theoretically anything "makes sense" in the game. Not every planet is going to have the means for intergalactic travel, so I think we're quite safe in suspecting primitive planets.~

Going to a less technologically-advanced world would be great, I bet there would even be materials which would otherwise have been depleted on the futuristic planets due to consumption plus plants, monsters... you name it. We have have crystal and tentacle planets, so why should we not have a Jurassic planet?

Dinosaurs, I don't care if they are not made out of metal and have guns, I'm pretty sure a dinosaur could rip a mech or robot in two.
