Title is pretty self-explanitory. Have blocks that you slowly sink into, and that can be harvested. Whether they should be harvested like solids or liquids is up to you. This would allow for cool traps and stuff like quicksand.
I think that this fluid should flow a little bit, so that way it won't just be floating there. I think there was an oil described as gooey in Blue's thread of confirmed elements that will be in the game.
Ah, man, this would be awesome. Do you think they'll add sand aeration, where you pump air up through sand to make it flow like water? That would be so cool, to have quicksand that you could turn off to walk over, back on again to sink your enemies, and back off once more to seal their fate. >
It'd be great for deploying a soft landing site from great heights, just add it as ammo to a misc. item launcher!
Oh goodness, that'd be awesome! I could just imagine a giant pool it, it'd be way too fun to mess with. Could be nice for trapping slow-moving creatures... Hmm..
I mentioned something like that in my thread Physics!, different liquids with their own viscosity levels so that ones would flow swiftly like water and others would be much more gooey. I also believe it would be a great mechanic to see, so yeah, I approve of this 100%! ^^
Oh an idea! An oil/gas mixed quicksand pit trap. Look them monsters can't get out lets set it on fire!
Awesome idea ! So... liquid cobwebs, pretty much ? I like the idea, it would be PERFECT for traps, AND decoration!
Hmm... Well, technically you would suffocate. Unless you count the fact that it flows down your throat... Huh. That's a good question.
A Non-Newtonian fluid is something that acts as a liquid when no force is applied, and a solid when force is applied. Custard is a Non-Newtonian fluid, you could walk on it if you had enough because you are impacting it with your feet and simultaneously making it solid, however if you stood still in it you would sink and it would be very difficult to get out as being pulled out on a rope would create force and just solidify the surrounding area.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shear_thinning It says ketchup is a shear thinning fluid, other examples of shear thinning fluids include lava, blood, nail polish, whipped cream and paint. These are definitely not Non-Newtonian.
