To name a few ideas for all the pacifists out there: - Sleeping darts - Tasers - Knockout gas Give peace a chance, guys.
i think there should be some kind of non-lethal weapons for the capturing of enemies and such. (since we'll be able to do that anyway, non-lethal weapons just help to keep us from killing them)
Ehh, It's a dumb idea unless you're specifically using these weapons to put a monster to sleep so you can capture it or whatever.
This can be added into the weapons itself as MODs, for example one with a MOD that would stun monsters
In other words, it's a useful idea. Good that you talked yourself out of that argument, thanks. In addition, a game about space exploration might want to give the player diplomatic solutions to certain conflicts.
I'm all for subduing monsters, players, and NPCs in a more peaceful manner! Well, when I choose to, however. :B
Thanks. And who know, maybe you could tame animals and befriend aliens, instead of killing everything you come across.
I'm usually a fan of non-lethal weapons in games, but I don't know if they really have a role in Starbound. I'd like to see it, but I'm not sure how well they'd be received. Might be good for capturing mobs to tame, though.
I agree with you there, it would only be for certain types of mobs, like wild animals and unarmored NPCs. If it were to be implemented, certain mob types would be tolerant or immune to it, like in boss battles.
Could just have alternate firing mods like a phasers in Star Trek, and be able to set weapons to stun.
This would be a very elegant way to implement the idea, to save time and resources. Great suggestion!
When you said non-lethal weapons, the first thing that came to my mind was a weapon sort of like the snowball in minecraft. It would be good for playing around with other players in multi, just so you can hit each other without doing any damage. Nerf-like guns and weapons like that would be fun to play with even though it isn't really useful. I am loving the idea! ^.^
Omg! I like the idea but it slightly frightens me. Your post kind of reminded me of some sort of axe murderer knocking out one of its victims with a sleeping dart and then bringing them back to his/her house... or maybe I just have a really messed up mind.
