No Steam Update? Title bar says still "Starbound - Beta"

    Hi guys,

I'm not sure what to do to get version 1.0.

When I start up Starbound the title bar still says "Starbound - Beta". Also when I have a look at the starbound.exe is says "File Version 0.9.0.0" and "Product version 0.9beta".

Strangely, Steam updated Starbound half an hour after 6 p.m. GMT. I also deinstalled it and downloaded it again.

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Best,
    simaloma

    PS: I'm running Win 10.

I have the same problem. Have uninstalled, deleted remaining starbound folder, restarted computer and done a fresh install but steam still gives me 0.9beta.
    Also on win10.

    Really annoying :(

    Edit:
Also tried changing region from Europe to US in Steam to no avail.

Mine says Starbound - Beta as well. Have I got the full version 1.0 release or not? I'm confused.

    Same here, in all regards.

If i right click starbound.exe for details, i also see 0.9beta, and in game window just "Starbound beta". Assuming it is the correct release version though. I've not had any issues with it.

I have this as well. Windows frame says Starbound - Beta, and the exe file's details say version 0.9beta.

Also, this happened overnight. I played co-op with a friend yesterday, no problem. We're logging on today, then I notice the "beta", and when I join his game it's SUPER laggy. Takes nearly a minute before he shows up on my screen after teleporting to my ship.

Have any of you guys played co-op after getting the beta bug? If so, how was your experience?

EDIT: Oh and it goes without saying that I've tried all the previously mentioned solutions. ;)

If you spawn on a Lush world with a gate object on it (go exploring) that requires 20 core fragments to repair, then you're playing Starbound 1.0. They just didn't change a few small details like the program name.

As far as I can tell, Chucklefish just forgot to change the string in the version and remove the beta tag. That does not mean you do not have 1.0.

It also did not happen overnight, as I noticed it the very first time I loaded up 1.0 on July 22nd. Same goes for everyone else I've seen play. Furthermore, I do not see how this would be causing the issues people are discussing in this thread, like major lag.

When you start a new character, do you get to play through the protectorate intro? If so, you have 1.0.

Humble Bundle has the same problem. That upload is dated February 2nd.
It looks like they retracted the 1.0 to work on it but I've seen no such announcement. I'm waiting two more days and then storming the fort.

Did someone here manage to get hold of 1.0 during the past 24 hours?

its because the version before 1.0 was their 0.8, if you will.

So when they updated to 1.0 it says 0.9. Its still 1.0, and I'm gonna guess that someone forgot to change that in the config files, which its possible to do this yourselves :p

1.0 is out, as others have mentioned, the developers simply forgot a minor detail. The version you are playing is indeed 1.0, and yes, a lot of people are experiencing lag, while others arent, I guess that might depend on your computers ability to run this game.

Look. Yesterday I'm playing co-op, and everything is fine. Version 1.0, no problems. I log on today and the game says Beta in the window frame, the exe file says 0.9beta and now it lags like hell in multiplayer. My friend does not have the beta bug, so I'm certain that either the bug or the version mis-match is the problem. It's the only thing that changed from yesterday. If they fix it with this hotfix they're working on we'll see if the lag continues.

I can believe that Chucklefish screwed up with the version number but not Humble Bundle claiming they uploaded the files in February if in fact they didn't.
Give me one example of a feature that changed between the last beta build and 1.0 so I can test to see if I have the real thing.

The 1.0.1 update fixes the "Starbound - Beta" Window name.

    That's great.
Until I can get 1.0.1 though, could I please get to test to see what version I actually have?
I kind of don't want to play all night only to have my progress wiped/useless because of this.

The only way I know for sure is to load up the game and press Esc. The version number is in the menu.

Software being weird only let me take a full screenshot. Oh well.

That IS the beta. That's the old hotbar. Old menu. Old... Everything.

I don't know what version I had before (didn't know about the ESC thing...I looked all over the starting menu for something that would tell me), but I had Starbound - Beta before, and now it says Starbound, and I have 1.01. Right clicking->Properties->Details on the .exe still says .90 Beta, but *shrug*. I guess I'm good to go now!
