No PLANET WIPE was TRUE (But they failed to mention.....)

...though, I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong, there are too many people yelling at the OP in this thread.

 

That's weird I opened a chest in my ship to see if this was true and my items were still there. Does this happen in rare cases or was it fixed?

 

I feel I will play until Titanfall launch. Then Starbound will be a distant memory. And one day it'll be full release. And I'll revisit with open ARMS. Until that point I will continue to rant and rave.

My panties are so bunched, they can't get moist.

 

It's funny that some people describe starbound as near complete. I've played through to Impervium and I can easily say that we're nowhere near done yet. I wouldn't expect a final release in 2014 with what I've seen of the game.
But, I'm not concerned about losing items in beta anyway. I could get back to Impervium in about a day now, so no real loss at all. I keep all my diamonds on my character but even if they were on my ship, what are pixels really worth? What is any ore worth once you hit the next tier? The answer to both is nothing at all. Just wasted space for packrats.

 

It's worth investing for future updates. When you spend hours, days, visiting one system after another, it equates to a lot of effort. Just because you rush to end-game content for impervium doesn't mean everyone else should share your point of view. There's much more content than just getting ingots to make armor/weapons.

 

Not if you refine all your ORE and BARS into pixels. I stash every peice I get.

 

eh... the ship storage of my ship is gone, any way to make it come back? :S

 

I don't know about anyone else but this but I consider this game to truly be in a very early beta stage (if not late alpha).

The other games that most people keep trying to compare this to Titanfall, ESO, and others are pretty much finalized products that the "beta" of those games is nothing more than free advertisement and an infrastructure test. To compare them is just ludicrous.

 

Really, though. The more people that find stuff like this and properly report it the easier they can fix it, so it doesn't carry over into the more stable phase of the beta.

It sucks losing stuff, sure, but it won't be in vain.

 

Probably was, but I felt like in the slight chance it wasn't, I could commend him/her/it for it. One thing the OP said that I didn't quite get was that Starbounds beta was pretty far along. I don't want to be critical, but that is not true at all. It has been divided into 3 "stages". The first stage, which we are in right now, is the buggy, laggy, crash-your-game-and-steal-your-items stage.

And to further that. RUST is in Alpha, and has many many issues and lack of content, bugs wipes etc are expected.

When DEVS promise and make a point on certain aspects of the game not being touched and that we can feel safe with particular parts of content, then it becomes an issue when said follow through is lacking or opposite.

 

The problem is that this doesn't happen to everyone, and the tests for this update probably didn't get it. Because of this, they didn't know about it. If you still have the old file, there is a fix for it on the front page of these forums, so you could use that. I get what you're saying. The devs stated that there will be no more wipes, but then this happens.

Thing is, the devs were talking about planned wipes, where they purposely wipe your character. This was a bug that I'm sure they didn't intend to add.

 

I will try the fix. Here is the thing. It was the Second HOTFIX that wiped everything. Before that, I just couldnt access my storage of any type. But I still had all my items, I verified this by breaking down a chest I couldn't access at the time.

while i do think that the OP is overreacting, Chucklefish should've NEVER made any kind of playability promises during this beta phase. In fact, i think they shouldve kept the wipes just to cement the fact that "this is beta".

What wereally have here is a released game with updates. Im sure internally they are treating this as a "finished game with content updates" It sure seems that way with things like holiday specials and wild promises.

 

I understand things happen and im sure to get over it.
I am mainly upset I did all this work and spent hours over the weekend instead of furthering my skills on Titanfall lol

 

I meant to overreact. Stir that pot. But yes exactly. They should not have made any sort of promise, and should have kept the wipes to cement it as you say.

 

I agree, it seems like games nowadays label their nearly finished games "beta" so that if there are any bugs they can iron them out. Titanfall is scheduled to come out this year. It is halfway through the second month of the year and Starbound is in the first stage of the Beta, and Starbound won't come out until 2014 or even possibly 2015.
