    Delete Starbound.config.

    Thank you.

    Thank you. That helped.

    Now when I click "Launch Starbound," it goes up to the loading screen, and then displays this error message:

    Think it may be your characters? I always delete my Starbound characters after every update. Gets it to work just fine.

  5. Avian314

    Avian314 Void-Bound Voyager

    Where would I find the characters?

    For Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\player

    Avian314 Void-Bound Voyager

    Do I delete everything in that folder?

    Pretty much, yeah.

    It's Nightly, so you shouldn't expect to hold onto your characters for very long.

    How do I disable the nightly build and get it back to normal?! It just comes up with two errors (Cannot attach them. Balls!) and I simply have to cancel them off. I've tried several times, and it doesn't work! I'd like to get back on with my friends.

    1. Open Steam.
    2. Select Starbound.
    3. Right-click, select Properties.
    4. Open the Betas tab.
    5. Select "NONE".
    6. Download of the Stable version commences immediately.
    7. Delete your Universe and Player folders (very important) and maybe Starbound.config.

    When going between Nightly builds back to basic Starbound, I always advise right clicking Sarbound in the Library and select Delete Local content. Then re-install the non Beta client, (Eneable and disable nightly, via Betas tab in Propertie) this will make sure the Nightly does not stop the game from loading.

    Or more specifically, leftover parts of the nightly.

    Can you tell us anything else about the error, screenshots or a bit of the text help greatly with the issue especially if it is not affecting everyone.

    this is the error i'm getting when i try to launch it. Sorry for the lack of blowing it up or anything I guess you will just need to open it in photo viewer and just zoom in on it.

    Try deleting/moving/renaming the player folder (back it up before you do).

    I have to say, Chucklefish has gone to great lengths to please everyone. First it was the people who didn't want their save files to go missing, now it's the people who actually wanted to see progress.

    Upon creating and trying to launch a character in the Nightly Build of Starbound, the following will occur.
    One, the game will stall, and then crash.
    Two, an error window will show up with the following text;
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    (MapException) Key 'abandonned' not found in Map::get()
    MapException::MapException(string)
    Quest::Quest(Variant)
    QuestManager::QuestManager(String)
    UniverseServer::UniverseServer(String, bool, CelestialCoordinate)
    ClientApplication::update()
    StarApplicationBase::run()
    _SDL_main
    _console_main
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Does anyone else have this issue, or know how to solve it?

    Oh, hey from steam~.

    Copypasta'd from my other post

    I will take a look into it, seems to be an issue with trying to access the map named abandonned. Seems like it might be an issue with a misnamed asset trying to be called. Can you move or rename the universe folder and try to launch it that way (warning the universe folder contains all your worlds, be sure to have a backup)
