New Trading Cards/Badges

...or is no one else getting trading cards? I've seen 4 different emoticons for sale, and that means there had to have been cards at one point. Did they discontinue the cards or something? Anyone know?

 

I've gotten 6 out of the 8 drops so far, if I remember correctly the less card drops you have left it'll take longer for them to drop.
I think it was something like that.

 

I'm fairly certain 1 card drops every 30 minutes of time spent in the game. I've spent 10 hours in it and no drops. Maybe its because I use OpanGL. Idk
Edit: Forgot to mention that you only get half of the card set and have to buy the other half.

Yeah, I was searching through the steam store and on the last page found a penguin emoticon. Then I thought about the cards and stuff.

 

You sure about that? I got the first 2 drops in less than 10 minutes so I don't think that's entirely true.

I think most people here know how trading cards work ^_^;

 

My stance on this matter is extremely cynical.

 

Looked it up, I was right Steam says you get half of the cards in the set. Ex - game has 8 cards, you get 4 random ones. It also says they drop every 15-30 minutes of time spent in game.

 

Oh alrighty then, although it's weird because I can say for sure I got 2 cards in less than 10 minutes... oh well.

Summary: Handouts for OpenGL users? That's not in the cards.

 

Supposedly, you can get cards by launcher-lurking.

 

I was wondering about that.

On a related note, I tend to alt-tab out while resting so I can interwebz. Does game time still count when the game is minimized, for the purposes of earning card drops?

And on an unrelated notes, I love that there are so many cards for Starbound. I'm not actually using them, but selling 8 of them at 0.07-0.08 cents per card will be more than sufficient for me to level up one of my other badges.

 

I hadn't seen this written anywhere else, but I just went to my badges page and noticed for the first time that 15 trading cards have been added to the game! Check them out, they're pretty cool.

 

I haven't seen them all yet. I kinda wish they were in the game's artstyle, though, not the company's new artstyle. (But the company's new style is nice, too.)

Okay, weird, because I just had a 1 hour gap between my last two cards. I was starting to think the timer reset every time I alt-tabbed.

 

I shouldn't have any cards then, I've had the game alt-tabbed for like 3 or 4 hours, I saw all the 8 [new inventory item] message from steam. Most were steady 20min delay between cards.

 

I just noticed that Steam seems to think I'm offline despite not being in offline mode. Maybe that's the problem.

Goddamnit, Steam, I just wanna earn my cards.
