Closed New Stable not launching?

I downloaded Pleased Giraffe, and once I moved to play it, Steam pops up with the notification that it's launching and then it just kinda... stops. I put it in my trusted in my Anti-virus, and I'm unsure if I should uninstall/reinstall because I don't want to run the risk of starting over after JUST finishing upgrading my ship all the way! Argh! D=

 

Yeah, I'm getting this too. I went into the files and tried to start it up manually, but I got a message saying it was missing a file by the name of MSVCP140.dll.

 

I'm getting the same.

 

Mine stops working as soon as it launches. So much for that :/

Starbound requires Visual Studio 2015? Since when?

 

Well there's a solution to this if you don't know yet.
1. Go to the starbound directory
2. Find a folder called "prereqs"
3.Download either vc_redist.x64 or vc_redist.x86 depending on your pc
4. Right after the install is done Restart your pc. It won't work if you launch the game now.
5. Launch the game.

I had the same problem as the original poster, but this nor reinstalling worked. Anything else I can try?

 

Try to install both of them, or Visual Studio (free version) if nothing works

Ok so I tried to install both of them, but they both stopped the installation stating an error (0xc8000222 - not specified), I tried to install Visual Studio then but it told me to get a newer version of Windows.

I'm playing on Windows 7, it's the very first time I encounter this problem and I'm considering playing on my Cubuntu boot now.
