New Snow Infantry armor way OP compared to others

After the update, I just discovered Snow Infantry armor set. Not only it gives very high protection against cold, but it gives way more armor than any other armor I unlocked, up to and including Silver armor.

It only requires leather, and thus craftable early game on level 1 planets. I don't know what level it's supposed to be, but it clearly doesn't match lvl 1 armors - more like lvl 10 or higher based on stats.

In general game armors seem to be weak compared to weapons, but if stronger armor is introduced, the rest should be buffed to match based on level.

(I know this is beta and balance is in the works; not flaming or anything. Just pointing out).

What did you use to make this armor? I mean like crafting table etc

In the launcher, the change notes say this:
    - Added a dumb, quick way to advance through some of the tier 4-10 content (armors, weapons), just for fun.

I think we've basically been given access to some tester tools to help folks get around easier. The more we can see, the more bugs we can smash!

    Loom, using Leather.

    Stat comparison:
Silver Helmet: 10 armor, 0 energy, 0 cold protection
Snowy Infantry Headgear: 13 armor, 0 energy, 29 cold protection o_O

It doesn't indicate tier anywhere, but if its tier 4+, it should be dropped by mobs on those tiers IMO. What was the reason this was introduced in current state? Breaking balance isn't "fun". I accept the need to test things in beta, but why break balance just for the heck of it? What testing does it accomplish? Now that it's introduced, you can't just remove it (or players will get mad).

What it accomplishes is letting people wander around without fear of death while looking for actual gameplay bugs, i.e. stuff that will mess with your game no matter what you're wearing. It is deliberately unbalanced, and people shouldn't expect to keep it when we're already facing character and universe wipes as the game is developed.

Some people are good enough to get into weird places without that kind of help, what this'll do is allow some less-skilled players look at some places where they can still make meaningful contributions.

Example: I found some pockets of water deep on my threat 1 forest planet that are bounded by nothing at all - they are literally floating in midair above a cavern feature that was cut out of the rock to make room for a deep ruined temple. I'll be posting a screenshot of it tomorrow. I made it down there using standard gear, but for people who don't have a whole lot of experience in this kind of game they could use the deliberately off-tuned stuff to get deep enough to see stuff like that.

the down side is it does not contribute to advancing the armor line for higher defense at the start. so yes it seems op but yea in the long run it is not.

The snow infantry armor is not what that particular changelog line is about. Considering how inexpensive it is, it's in all likelihood the overpowered cheesiness meant to make Alpha Sector deliberately easy.

Still don't love it. Oh, and one piece is enough to prevent all cold effects? Was hoping for a monster hunter style, where you had to wear all three to be immune from the cold. I like the cost, maybe add a required material, fiber or something, but it should be a fraction of the protection it is now. Maybe 2 or 3. Love the look of it though! Feel like I'm on Hoth! ^^

Again, it's deliberately unbalanced right now. The overpowered aura it exudes is entirely intentional, and stands no chance of actually making it to the final release without being brought back in line.

I'm betting we'll see something with the art assets, though. :p

While it is OP it is more in line with armor for debugging and testng purposes. It may get balanced to fit into gameplay later on.

Oh, you don't need to worry about losing the armor ART. There's no reason at all why that would go away when beta ends.
