New ships! Whoop whoop!

What do you think of them? Do you like the new designs?
Personally I'd like the humans to have the Apex's ship and vice-versa

 

Wow, they all look amazing. Except for the character I plan on using... The Hylotl. God that ship looks hideous, I'm actually reconsidering my choice on race now...

 

I love all of them, and the Avian ship reminds me of the ship in the first Stargate movie.
I also have to disagree with OP, I always viewed the Apex as being like the Terran Empire from Star Trek - and that just fits the idea so well.

Now I am reconsidering my race choice too. I'm loving the Humans! Guess I'll just have to update my name to "Quantum Sapiodance" And change my profile picture.

I just noticed now that some ships have weapons on them and some don't. The humans have dual laser things, the avian have 1 laser thing, and the glitch have a cannon. This leads me to wonder what they are used for, and why the other 3 races don't have a weapon. Speculation!

 

It looks hideous. All the other ships have nice lines and interesting designs, but then the Hylotl ship has a really screwed up looking fish attached to the front.
Don't get me wrong, I find the idea of it being slightly "fish-like" to be... Not to bad... But the way they went through with it made it look terrible.

Anyways, why do we have to get the "joke" ship? Why can't we have a normal ship just like everyone else? Why does Chucklefish have to turn our space-ships into giant fish rather than badass ships like the other ones?

Seriously, if there is one thing you can possibly do wrong: It's turning one of the ships into a ****ing "joke," while all the others are actually normal and cool.
I wish Chucklefish had an editor to tell them when their attempted jokes aren't actually funny.

 

These look WAY better than the old versions.

I'm really not sure how I'll decide what race to play.... It's gunna be so hard Just looking at ships, the apex one is my favorite.

Edit: Actually, does anybody know if the races have any race-based bonuses? I know they were supposed to originally, but did that change?

 

Nice. The human ship has a sort of a Star Wars feel. Other than the Glitch (which I'd already seen), I'm particularly impressed with the Avian ship.

Hopefully, you should be able to recolor your ships (given the amount of customization in other areas, it seems likely that they'll include that). If so, a deep blue might make it more muted (or at least no more idiosyncratic than the Glitch, Avian, or Floran ships; really, only the Human and Apex ships look "normal," which I think is the intent).

 

My main problem was actually the terribly designed fish head on the front of the ship. :/ I wouldn't really mind the color as long as the ship looks cool...

Okay, I lied. If it was bright pink, then I would dislike it for that.

Looks more like a dragon to me than just a fish.

 

The Hylotl are a water race, and it looks a bit more fishy than dragony to me. Dragons are supposed to be cool. It looks just silly.

No, it just looks terribly ugly in general. That weird mouth needs to just be removed, and the rest of the head too...

Maybe if they made it look more like a submarine, or perhaps added other elements that looked oceanic, but not fishlike.

I'm just p0ed they turned it into a joke. I guess they don't realize that many people don't play games to constantly laugh at things. When I'm in my ship I actually want to think:
"Wow, this is a badass ship." Not: "The hell is wrong with my ship..?"

 

It is definitely an improvement over the old ships. Floran one was clearly hijacked.

It's not a joke just because you don't like it. Install a texture pack if it's that bad.

 

APEX ship is more advanced, Humans a more cheap model. You dirty advanced monkeys!

 

I do quite like the fact that Human's ship isn't the "normal one" as you would expect from some other developers.

 

The formatting on this thread makes it much easier to experience the ships. If the OP would update the first post in the other thread then I would agree.

 

I agree... The thing I don't like is the large front of the human ship design. It's just... Too large at the front...

I really, REALLY want that Avian spaceship, REALLY REALLY BAD. I can only hope that you can A) Have ships from different races other than your own (or acquire them) and be able to recolor them. (I would LOVE to paint mine white and make the gems blue, even though its great as is)
