I hope my story will get some recognition Well, mine is exactly 550. I don't think it's a big deal, probably a recommendation.
You'll be fine. I know for sure my story is going to be just a little more than 500 words, I'm going to push my boundaries as much as I can without bending the rules too much. Personally 500 seems short, but maybe that's just because I like being detailed, and my story has more than enough scenes.
Let's see. Artists Journal no. 589. Today I didn't get to draw anything. Since I'm still out of drawing materials. Most of the colony has gone insane and pretty much everyone is acting like a chicken. Wait... how are they producing eggs?
Oh man, always feel so bad when see writing contests on my non native language. Im pretty good on stories and so, but dont think that I can do anything good on english. But, well, no harm in trying
I'm going to ask a question already asked above but not answered: are we limited to only submitting a single work, or can we submit multiple works?
In the Blog Post under the rules section it is stated to keep it under 500, so I assume it's a safe bet that you can't go over. I'll post the rules here as well in case anyone missed them
Only 50 words over is nothing :/ Hopefully it's not a big deal. I did state they can edit it if they like. So maybe I still have a chance.
What a great news ! I have a dissertation on a utopian planet in the Starbound universe, I just have to hold two and a half pages in less than 500 words. \o/
If your story is over 500 words by 20-50 words, I can swear to whatever flying meatball you worship that if you are a good writer, you can trim off those 20-50 words and still have a good story. My question is: Can we write multiple books as long as the total word count is under 500? Or do we have to write one book only?
Can it be assumed that the "cool new dungeon" these'll be put in is the massive Hylotl library mission?
Yea, but I already sent my story, and I don't wanna spam them with different versions. Should I resend it?
They might either reject it for being too long or edit it to fit 500 words. If you are okay with either one, don't resend it. If you do decide to resend it, you can do it, just make sure to title the email: Revised, under 500 words version.
hmm, i wondering how i'm going to write this, does the story have to completely match the lore of the starbound universe (like can i add something). Do i write in the perspective of the story character or as a narrator, and should i add dialogue.........
This is perfect! If I do enter I can write an epic short story about my adventures in Starbound, but as a newcomer into the game!
