I hope you'll be able to paint all kinds of blocks easily. One 'real' purpose I can think of for this (not to downplay 'fun' as a real purpose but I mean actually productive as opposed to cosmetic) is to mark off corridors that you've explored, in dungeons, and to draw arrows for friends to follow and such. It would be much less fun, then, if it were hard to aquire/store lots of 'paint' (assuming it's not just free), or if you could only paint domestic blocks.

Looks cool regardless, though!

 

Ya no word on if the paint is an actual item, and if it is whether the item has finite uses. Maybe we'll see a stream of it at some point and get some more info.

 

I worry a teeny tiny bit about this encouraging pixel art in the game.

I was never thrilled by people recreating NES sprites in blocky games ;-; Original works maybe, but I'd probably prefer seeing them in MSPaint

Is there any real detriment to the game though by including it? I mean, I'm not one of those folks who thinks the solution to any issue in a game that you don't agree with is, "Well just don't do that thing," because sometimes the very existence of something takes away from the game at large even if individual players try to avoid it. But does someone doing pixel art fall in that category?

 

Painting is much better than having a bunch of ''different blocks'' that are only set apart by the color. (Yes T I'm looking at you, with a few exceptions thou).

Apparently, only human-made blocks can be painted.

What does Tiy have against the other races, huh?!

If this is doing what I think it's doing, it's actually really cool tech and what we're seeing is actually the user-extended application of something being used for generating a variety of colored planets.

Being able to paint other people's houses is something I would actually love to have in my friends only servers.

I am always looking for new and creative ways to suggest that my friends are in fact a living pair of buttocks.
