Maybe there will be waves. Like instead of individual blocks of water, there will be tiny little droplets. Like more realistic water mechanics.

 

Tiy said yesterday in IRC that water wont be particles : /. Although I don't know how the squirting water pressure will work then.

 

I presume it will be similar to water falling, just in a different direction The water won't exactly be made of particles instead of little squares, but it can still be simulated to move around. I imagine it might be to do with processing power and things. If it has to render the whole planets water when you load it (like Terraria) then I guess making the water into tiny droplets would just make that rendering time a lot longer and increase the processing power required to keep the system running. Probably wouldn't be worth the better results that it would achieve.

 

I can't wait to play multiplayer with my friends on this game! Lighting Engine is interesting and the red sky adds a creepy atmosphere during the night in this planet. Keep up the good work Tyuri!

I don't like the lighting, the lack of colors and the fact it lights so many feet underground is... ugly

 

Well thats kinda of the reality, when its day time it becomes very bright and colorful, but when its dark, the true colors aren't shown as much because there isn't as much light. If anything, its more realistic.

 

I kind of agree...
I have made a suggestion for coloured lights last week. (since then I have De-crafted an invisable ink pen and crafted a UV torch)

And I agree that you shouldn't be able to see through the ground so much, it looks a bit plain.

 

It might not be the most realistic approach, but from a gameplay point of view it makes sense. It at least gives you a chance of finding ores and things buried underground. Otherwise, unless they were on the surface or directly in the walls of caves you'd have no chance of ever finding them. You'd just have to dig around completely randomly which would quickly get frustrating when you need such large quantities of ore.

Kidding. But the lighting is fine. I don't understand why you would prefer less visibility? And really, it's not that much.

 

Red/pink night skies are actually pretty common; if you look up at the sky after a winter storm or snowfall, it's most likely going to be a pink or purple color. It's not exclusive to winter storms -- in the coming summer, if you have a thunderstorm around sunset, when it begins to clear the light outside will be pink. It's pretty awesome, actually This is reading way too into it, but the red sky actually indicates to me there could be a moon (or sunlight) just under the horizon /nerd

 

Red sky at night, shepards delight. I don't know if it depends where in the world you are too, in england they're pretty common though! When the sun is setting it can reflect off sparse clouds and create an amazing red sky

Wow, didn't notice that picture. My Twitter must've buried it under the other tweets. But anyway.
First thing i noticed was the smooth lighting. Then the colored trees and at last the character. The whole scenario looks like it was drawn.
The cursor though...

 

Awesome. I'm, as everybody else, eager to see a real gameplay video and how things will work, but so far it looks freaking amazing.
