New Picture by Tiy - Avian Armor!

yeah, that shotgun looks like someone cut it out from an old image and pasted it on to this one
Maybe that stuff is WIP also..

 

I think the gun looks a little out of place because the square pixels of the rest of the image line up, but the guns pixels are diagonal. Like they drew it horizontally then the game rotates the gun sprite in play depending where you have it pointed. My guess its like that so they didn't have to draw every angle the gun would point plus in procedural generation all the different angels and mixing might get messy.

 

We already know they use this technique. They did it in Terraria with all weapons and tools, and they're doing it here too. Swords, guns, anything. Pixels only have 8 vertices, thus limiting which angle you could aim you guns to only 8 angles. North, South, East, West, NW, NE, SW and SE.

 

The two posts above us basically get it right. Weapons look weird as hell if you really take a look at them in some angles xD Anyway, where did this screenshot come from, the IRC? I like the idea of you leveling up your armor and equipment (*cough*Skyward Sword*cough*)

Tiy was telling us about how you can wear other races armor on the IRC, and get the benefits of that armor, when suddenly one guysaid "Picture a robot with avian armor. He would look fabulous as hell!". Tiy said he "Had to see that." and posted this pic a few moments later with some more info on armor and tiers.

 

I can assure you, that gun was not shopped in. As weird as it looks that's a picture from Tiy.

 

That is, indeed, Tiy's picture as Ghostar (the obviously more credible source) has pointed out.

 

We've seen tons of screenshots of weapons looking like this, why's everyone so confused?

The weapon looks fine to me. I think the main thing about it is how it just seems to clash terribly with the environments. Think about it. Sweet armor, cool back ground, neat environment. Plain, shotgun looking weapon. Just an odd juxtaposition.

 

The colors kind of stick out against the background too.

 

I like that armor. A lot. Unless other armor is better looking, that is what I want.

 

Is it just me, or does the head of the armor look almost exactly like the robot's head from an earlier picture?

 

Tiy did say that there are different tiers. (Bout 50% sure this is early gear) And it is a racial specific armor as well. That being said look at how armors in Terraria changed over their respective tiers.

The armor gets cooler and cooler as the tiers progress.

The pixel art is strong with this one...
The background and foreground mesh well; reminds me of the art from some older Sierra adventure games.

And those trees look very good, assuming they are randomly generated (someone mentioned they're from an Avian Village).
